I just got a 100x100cm grow box( or 3x3) and i was wondering what kind of containers do you use for dwc.i was thinking getting one vig one and put 3 plants inside.is it a good idea?
 
And use small net pots. 10cm or less. You don't need big ones, or much medium at all. Bigger net pots are taller, and every inch worth of water you can spare in the container adds to your overall capacity, better keeping your solution stable and for longer.
 
Thas exactly what I'm doing, 3 plants in a 4 pot system.

I've got an oxypot 4, in a 100x100 tent. It's good but doesnt have a drainage for res changes, once its full of water there's no moving it - so i've had to rig up a hose and aquarium pump that I can put in when I need to change liquids, drain or refill.
It has five holes but you really need to leave one free as a maintenence hatch.

So it has its pros and cons - the bigest consideration I think is that individual buckets might allow a bit more room to work and flexibility for maintenence.

It does hold a large 90 - 100l or water though, depending on how high you want your water level... so it it helps with stability of water temperateurs and nute balance.

Back when I was doing DWC I used 5 gallon buckets and the 8" net pots filled with hydroton. Each bucket had its own airstone and. Swapping out the nutrient solution was easy. I'd just use another 5 gallon bucket that was already filled and had an airstone on the bottom and just pick up the net pot and transfer it to the other bucket. Then swap the airstone line to the air pump and be done.

  • 110L Oxypot 4 - 83 x 83 x 38cm (W x L x H)
  • 5 x potential plant sites (for up to 4 plants)
  • Ideal in 1m x 1m growing area (BudBox L)
You can get them for about £70/80, dunno what that is in USD or canadian dollars. It's expensive for what it is, but it comes with air pump and air stones and hose, and I'm pretty happy with it.

Don't use the hose though, as its a clear hose, belive me, I know! you'll be better off buying a black hoses to replace them. Its also worth considering fitting a one way valve to the hose, so you dont get any water up in the hoses, I'm pretty sure that's where I went wrong, I've got rotten water/air bubbles in the transluscent airlines. A bacterial paradise!

EDIT.. as the rez is quite deep you should probably go with a 2meter tall tent, to take into account light fittings and corbon filters etc. Mines only 1.8 meteres high and that extra 20cm would be very usefull.

i went for something DIY like the commanderXL just bigger. its a little bit taller 46cm but other than that its great 75L

Yeah they are expensive for what they are.. make sure to get black hoses, not clear ones!
 
4 watt I think, just a standard helia twin port pump. It's pretty noisy, but ive hung it from a bungee in the tent, and with the tent zipped up and the door of the room closed I can only just about hear it in the room next door,
