Currently I have some 5 gal buckets and 3 gal buckets, but I only have enough soil for the 3 gal. How much difference (if any) would there be in yield by using a 3 gal instead of a 5?

Why not use hydro with a 5 gal bucket? Good question... All of my buckets have holes in the bottom.

I am currently using one of the 5 gal buckets for an auto. Should I trade the auto and put it in the 3 gal bucket and use the reg seed in the 5 gal?

Why not start the seed off in the 3 gallon and transplant into a 5+ later on when you can afford another bucket?

It has nothing to do with affording, I was just wanting to use what I have and it was soil that I don't have. I have several buckets, just only enough soil for a 3gal and 5gal.

I'm trying to figure out if the 3 gal would be big enough for an auto to reach its full potential?

I decided to put the reg plant in the 5gal and the auto in the 3gal. Even though my last autos roots were able to pick up 5gal of soil, maybe it wont be to big of a loss.
