ok, im new to growing, and have a simple question for the vets. does it matter if you start out in a smaller container then transplant? or can you have just as much success if you throw a seedling in a 3 gallon container??? if you go from small to bigger container does it keep the plant more compact and less lanky??? how do i keep the internodes tight and not far apart? is that just the lights doing?

no, it doesnt matter. its best if you dont transplant too many times,it adds an extra shock to the plant, but two or three times is ok. as for the lanky, thats all to do with the light. when plants go lanky, its just it trying to get closer to the light, so it can get more. if you have plenty of light to begin with, you should be fine.
