Container size in DTW coco

I've been using coco for a few years for indoor and outdoor MJ and vegetable gardening.

For indoor MJ I have mostly used 5 gallon smartpots. At this size, the coco holds enough nutes that the plants need to be watered about once a day when they are in full flower.

I have heard of people going as small as 1 gallon and as large as 15 gallons. How do you feel about that?

I have heard differing opinions. Some say that plants in coco like to be basically rootbound, where the root mass fills the entire pot. But larger pots hold a larger amount of nutrients, resulting in less pH swing as the nutes are used up.

I use 3 gallon buckets hempy style, works out well for me. Water every 3 days, feed with every watering, flush only at the end of the cycle.

Using RO water and CNS17 nutes, I no longer worry about or even check pH any more. Doesn't seem to be necessary...and I'm Professionally Lazy anyway.

I love not having to check pH.
I don't have a RO system yet, so I still have to lower the pH a bit initially when I mix the nutes. But I don't touch it again for 2 weeks until I refill my res.

Pretreat the coco with CalMag+

Add maxibloom and a bit of maxigrow and that's it. Minimal measuring, and spectacular results, with a ton of room for error.

+rep on the professional laziness.

Anyone using smartpots have any suggestions? I've considered something like a "coco hempy smartpot." Lining the bottom of a smartpot with a 2 inch high saucer made of a cut up bucket, to hold 2 inches of water in the bottom like a hempy bucket, but allow breathability and air-pruning on the sides.
