Considering switching to Aero

Hello. I currently have a dwc setup and am suspicious that my plants are not getting enough oxygen. Instead of buying a new air pump I am considering going to Aero. I would be using the fake aero setup. Would this significantly increase my yield as I'm not using 5-50 microns. I spent $40-60 and not sure how many gph. Ill see if the unit has specifications on it tomorrow. How many microjets would this support? Also using neoprene discs do the plants tip over a lot? I plan on growing mine no more than 4'.

Thanks

Baily1808: going from DWC to Aero because you have problems with your DWC system could easily be you jumping from the frying pan directly into the fire. Hydro, in general, isn't as forgiving as dirt but it's a lot faster. Going to Aero is another step up the ladder of complexity. It's a more advanced method, I think it requires a lot more knowledge, and it offers very little forgiveness. If something goes wrong in an aero system you can lose a crop in hours instead of days.

If your problem is not enough O2, then the answer should be simple; add some more air, maybe another pump or bigger stones.

What does the air you have look like? Is there enough of it that it's moving around the nutrient mix? And are the bubbles little or big? You want a screen of really tiny bubbles to do the job, and the more air the better. I hope this gives you something to think about and it helps. HSA

I know and feel your comment. I decided against adding another air pump and more air stones because I feel I have sufficient knowledge of growing to step up. I'm going to have a valve on the drainage system to allow to me to switch back to dwc incase of power failure or any other reason. I finally have all the pieces, air jets and a minute timer to allow me the jump to aero.

I am a newbie and I started on a homebuilt aero, I honestly didn't have to many problems. The hard part was the ph monitoring. You have to be very attentive to your reservoir. Also your ph needs to be lower then other method's of grow. You won't need any air stones using aero. The root's hang in the air so they get plenty of oxygen. How many GPH is your water pump? A 300 GPH will handle about about 8 sprayers decently while lifting the water a foot up. So just multiply the gph based on how many sprayers you want. I use two sprayers per plant and it works great. Oh, and I don't have my sprayers on a timer, they spray 24 hour's a day.
