what can i use to attach this 1/2 pipe to a 1/2 plastic part on pump?

the 1/2 pump pz is smaller than 1/2 i sware, unless tubing is smaller which i think it is.

not the best pic, and im missing the 10 inch pz that goes to pump but this is what setup looks like.:wall:

If the piece on the pump is hard plastic and its smaller than the 1/2" pvc use a reducing coupler. But I cant really be sure that would work. Take picture of the pump please

pic there, pz at end goes smaller..

cruzer those pz's would the pvc go into it, or would they go around pvc like a elbow or a T for example!?

I checked out the pic you posted of your pump. Also your other thread. Don't worry about the corrosive chemicals thing. Nutrients are no problem they are talking about like gas or something.

Looks to me like you have a power head. They are used in aquarium underground filters. You can got to an aquarium store and see if they have a reducer 1/2 to 3/8 I think it is and use it backwards. Or just wrap some plastic wrap you use for for food around the pumps fitting to make it snug.

Then slide PVC or that rubber tubing over it. I have done this with a drip system.
I dont know what kind of pressure you are going to have but it isnt going to be that much with that pump. Maybe you should do that in the sink first to see if that pump has enough pressure before you spend any money on it.

Keep it simple. This is suppose to be fun.

my plan was to find a adapter to hook to 1/2 pvc then pvc cement it?

or find a tube and a adapter 1 side bigger 1 side to pump then hose is bigger that goes to pvc 1/2..

it came with 1/2 3/4 fittings...its just they dont look like that when i measure then, sorta off....

anyways i found tubing that would fit around pump at least, then i thought i could put a metal clamp around it? what u think cruzerrrrrrrrr

You will need a 1/2" Coupler and get a smaller clear aquarium tube that fits in one side of the coupler, the smaller size on the pump and the 1/2" piping at the other end.

Here is the coupler...

and the smaller clear aquarium tubing..

I will get you a picture tomorrow of what i did for my setup.

few updated pics

found a pump by washer and dryer stuff

hoping it aint a dryer pz

what you guys think clamp it on? with a metal smaller clamp pz ill go lookf or one right now in shed

the tube is about a inch 5 lil ticks off lol

anyways, that pz looks nice,

i dont want a clear tube for passing nutes

but that pz looks good! ill take a closer look now.

OK you got a hose connected to the pump. Congrats your half way there.

I dont know about silicone for this. you want to be able to take it apart and clean it when you need to right? It only needs to fit snug. Its not like a radiator hose or anything. Just do like I said and wrap something around the base of the pump fitting to make it larger like that plastic wrap. It will fit snug. You wont need the silicone. Then use your clamp if you want.

Now I am looking at your original pic of your PVC and I see a valve. The white thing with the red handle. There is a grey pipe sticking out of that. I assume that is the 1/2 you want to connect to. I also assume it does not screw in, it's a short piece of PVC cemented into the valve. So you need to change that to a threaded end and get a PVC 1/2" Starter Fitting that will attach to the 1/2" hose.

What I would do is get a 1/2" fitting with male threads cost like 50 cents and cement it to the end. Then get a double female fitting (threads on both ends) and attach that. Now what I had originally recommended you get will work. It is a 1/2 barbed to thread fitting.
Here, I will take a pic of an extra one I got.

IMG_2073.JPG

screw that into the end of the double female fitting and the hose slides over the barbs holding it in place.

So you need the three fittings do do it this way. There may be an easer way but thats how I would do it.

Unless that valve is threaded then just attach it to that.

if i get thread ill still have to use some seal, threading doesnt do the trick does it? i dont think so!

yes that how mine works but the pvc 1/2 points down into rez.

so i need a threaded pvc pipe+ball valve?? and that pz u got?,

can i get it from hardware store?

i can get a threaded ball valve?

or a threaded pvc, iv only seen a few pvc threaded pipes but i dont know if it threads into a T?

i can get a threaded T , or a Threaded ball valve?..

silicone is just in the pic not being used for pump issue.

Threaded bulk heads and strainers are used in aquariums, why would they won't do in hydroponics? a hand tightened thread should NOT leak.

Sorry i haven't get on the grow room yet so i did not take the pic yet.

I recognize that set-up, lol. You only need one piece from Home Depot 1/2" x 3/4". Screws into the pump and the pipe coming down fits into the smooth side.
