If one needs to clone a plant from the veg state, how do you know if your cloning a male or female plant?

Can you sex a plant in the veg state?

there are some ways of doing it. I think the best way is to pick a nice branch and only give it 12 hours of light, for the rest of the time cover it with a black plastic bag and it will start to show signs

Thats cool. How long will it take to show signs? I have researched how to sex a plant, but once I have done so If its a female what do I do with the branch?

it depends on the plant for when it will start to show sex, no longer then 2 weeks. Once it dose start to show sex and is a female then just remove the bag totally. The branch will convert back to veg state.
