Doing a Diagnosis repair. Screen came up "Do you want to load windows normally or do you have to repair" so i chose repair. now its "repairing" and Ill report the reults. I find this so unusual that the comp will stay on no problem and not shut down randomly whenever I am doing the diagnosis. Weird.

That is weird, can you download a memory diagnostic software and test the ram? http://www.memtest86.com/

If it gets to the windows splash screen before rebooting, it could be something in your startup or even a driver.

hence a reinstall !!!!! you would still be able to keep any files from the previous as long as you dont format the drives ,, assuming you have no virus's and suchlike

yea i didnt think it was going to overheating or something with CPU... if those go, you usually dont get to boot screen. it is a peripheral mis-configuration... you said you built this yourself? is the OS legit? or a torrent?

I hope its not the CPU over heating because the CPU is just fine and cool. Powersupply is clean and connected. The power stays on for weeks and weeks when it gets past the windows loading screen. It wont get past it this time though
Sounds to me like something is wearin out on the mb. You got a hit and miss situation. Try using hybernate, it's located in task manager, it shuts off the comp without going all the way off.

With things looking resolved......... I hate to threadjack, but as long as I have some attention... Anyone have an XP start up disk they would be willing to loan me? My Inspiron 8600 has the BSOD and I think it may be the only way to get back in to save my files.

Hey guys. I have a huge report to finish tonight any help will be truly helpful. My computer is turning off by itself immediately or at some point before the operating system loads. I hear no beep. Heres the funny part: I let the comp sit for 30 mins and it will load the diagnosis repair screen. After it "repairs itself" it will ask me to restart. When I restart it, it will shut off at the windows loading screen. If I try to turn the comp on immediately after that, the comp shuts off immediately. I have to wait 20+ mins to turn it back on for it to go to the diagnosis repair screen except it will do the same thing. And when I select start computer without repair it stays stuck at the windows loading screen. Please help.
While you have a chance get to a library or friend's while it's still a reasonable hour. With this type of problem you won't finish in time to get the report done tonight most likely. Then diagnose the computer AFTER your report is finished.
