Common Ground

this is not aimed at anyone here, though i cannot help it if the shoe fits:

far right people are to the point of psychotic fantasy with all the mental gymnastics
required to continue praising the 'progress' of the GOP over the last decade.

for 8 years i had to listed to idiots in 10-gallon hats saying "if you don't support
the president you're unamerican and evil and love terrorists." the second
obama's ass hit the oval office chair, they're wishing for his failure and 'all-american'
texans are crying "succession".

then i have to read these stupid theories on why the GOP was genius after all, and even
when they fucked up it was all done on purpose for a greater good. its disturbing to
witness the constant outpouring of repeated false rumor amplified by irrational rage and
an unconditional support in anything GOP. thats right: unconditional. you cannot reason
with someone who adheres to an absolutist cult-like mentality.

what is most fascinating is that these very people will accuse you of committing the very sin
they are: celebrity worship/cult of personallity. they continue to worship the nearly perfect bush.
any criticism is mild at best and only really amounts to "i think he could have been a bit more awesome".

the typical pattern of conversation always follows:

them: "obama is scum/hitler/satan/baby raper/etc"
me: "what a ridiculous and baseless statement"
them: "oh so you're going to defend him like a good obamabot, huh? how do kieth olberman's nuts taste? you're just brainwashed"

conclusion: if you do not believe obama is scum incarnate then you are 'brainwashed' by msnbc.
Well, it took all of 9 posts before the name calling began in the common ground thread. I won't continue the exchange of barbed comments, I will just highlight the comments that would invite reprisal. You know these kind of remarks are just going to drag this thread down to the same boring, pointless level of commentary that all the other threads end up at.

i have no interests in conversations like this anymore
Then as a favor to those of us that aren't interested in them either, stop starting them. Thank you in advance.

As to the actual point of your reply, I agree with a great deal of it. I think there are about 60 -70% of the Republican AND Democrat base that will support a president from their party no matter what. We saw it with Bush and we are seeing it now with Obama. It is especially maddening to the people in the middle who don't wear any "party specific" rose colored glasses. We just want to be left alone by everyone, you can have some of my money to keep the roads and defense working, but past that I think it should be left to the states. That way if I don't like the way its going here, I can always pack my shit and leave.

I'm pretty sure that's the way it was originally set up and it still seems like a great concept. If the righties all want to live in Texas and make it a conservative paradise and it doesn't work out, they have to clean up their own mess. Same thing goes for the lefties. Then we can see which works best and the citizens of the other states can vote to adopt the policies they like.

Government-run private industry is fascism. Not socialism...fascism. I don't understand how people call it socialism. I see things like welfare, or obamacare, to be examples of socialism... correct me if i'm wrong though? i see all this "OBAMA IS A SOCIALISt and i think to myself wtf?"
You are dead-nutz on. Couldn't have said it better myself.

And, I agree with others here that its time we put away the labels of Democrat and Republican and just come together as Americans to fight the status quo. We are losing our country as we speak. The "system" has a complete Marxist/fascist framework ready to put into place and will succeed if we don't stop them soon. If we fail, our very own Hugo Chavez will control the country for a very long time.

Will we see you in Washington on September 12th ... or at least at one of your local TEA parties? :leaf:

a lower percentage than that i believe. whichever it is, these people on both sides have lazy and weak minds, and cannot be reasoned with. they can be coaxed to snap like attack dogs or heel like good little puppies, all by the simplest propaganda. it is those whom i address, and those who's opinions i really couldnt care less about.

anyone can reply as they wish and rant all they want about me, but i'm not obligated to entertain them.
