I'd say it's a safe bet that power usage data will be recorded in real time and uploaded daily, hence the need to retro fit so quickly.

Thanks for the heads-up. The issue that I see with this is less about energy usage, and more about the fact that they want to put a transmitter in every house in the UK, which transmits every half an hour, and the government are the ones who are pushing for it.

Call me paranoid, but I don't trust that this tech will only be used for it's advertised purpose.
