Combing HD Lighting: HPS with HD

There are scarce articles that refer to minimal benefit of adding HPS to a veg, but possible significant benefit when HD is added to HPS during flowering. Does anyone have any information on this subject? I don't think I missed a discussion on the site.

So the question is whether or not it's better to run both during flowering?

how many plants you doing it takes alot less light to veg than flower

If you are trying to mimic the sun then yes it is beneficial to run both due to the different PAR and spectrums that each possess.

Some folk use MH during veg for the enhanced Blue spectrum then switch to HPS during flowering and then during the last few weeks switch out the hps for a 10k MH which helps THC production.

However for most people just having enough hps light is all they worry about.

Metal Halide, if the protective glass is removed, provide UVB radiation which increases THC production if used in the last 2 weeks of flowering. Precautions should be used in exposing yourself to UVB as it is a known cause of malignant melanoma. In other words if you use it then stay the hell out of the light. Use green LED or fluoro to work on them when using the MH if the protective glass barrier is removed. If barrier stays? Why bother?

I did the 10K sunpulse MH the last week or so this last cycle, truthfully from what I see it isn't worth the hassle of a simple bulb change.

Thx for the info. I researched 400W 10k MH lamps and they are cheap, $29 here: http://www.lightbulbsurplus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=308 I assume it will work fine in my current 400W MH setup.

Will start a grow journal and post more pics as time goes by...
