UPDATE: COLORADO CUP PERMIT WITHDRAWN

PUEBLO, Colo. -

High Times Magazine, the group that organizes the annual Cannabis Cup competition and festival, has withdrawn its request to hold its annual event in Pueblo County.

That word comes from Paris Carmichael, a spokesperson for Pueblo County.

Commissioners were not available for immediate comment.

Promoter Tommy Giodone, who has been working with High Times to bring the event to Pueblo, says he understands the decision.

He tells NewsChannel 13's Katie Spencer that the process was moving slowly, and it takes a long time to put together an event with such large logistics.

The magazine informed Giodone of its decision Saturday, saying they were running out of time to promote the event.

We are also trying to get in touch with High times Magazine.

So far, no word on the exact reason for the pulled permit, although local law enforcement agents and the State Patrol have expressed misgivings about hosting such a large marijuana themed event.

Organizers had been planning to hold the event on the St. Charles Mesa, at "The Yard". The large open space lot, which is owned by the Giodone family, has been the previous host of "Bands in the Backyard, an annual country music and food festival.

Wait it says "there will be an expo with booths and medicating area" and then it says "cannabis cup competition will continue but NOT feature an expo and adult use area".
What does this mean?
Maybe only people with cards can smoke? Not recreational smokers?
