colonization temp question~

so it says the particular spores I bought have a colonization temp of 84-86.... Is this cut in stone or would it be ok at a lower temp.... like 80? having trouble keeping it in the sweet spot in my closet... slightly frustrated here...lol
ty as always for any help!

I'm in the middle of an experiment right now.... the temp in the cabinet below my bathroom sink is 76 degrees.... I just bought a "lizard rock" which I have placed in there to try and up the temp a bit....its pretty much a rock with a plug coming out of it to help supplement terrarium temps I guess.... problem is it takes 2 hours to heat up the directions say, so I dont know if it's going to work as of right now...lol~ The strain is Mazatapec btw.... ty for the response... I'll feel ok if I can get it to hit 80

well... I have stabilized at 82 degrees... I put the lizard rock and the substrate bag in my fruiting chamber (small sterlite box with lots of holes drilled in it) ALL in the cabinet under the bathroom sink... so far so good. The only thing that concerns me is whether or not its getting enough air... but I think it should be... I hope...lol

thought you were colonizing????...colonize around 80 and fruit around 70...colonization requires gas exchange fruiting requires misting and fanning...

I am colonizing.... just using the fruiting chamber with the rock inside of it to get my temps up... I have a mad season "madbag" which I innoculated today... which is in the sterlite container with the lizard rock, ALL of which is under my bathroom sink...lol! I'm new to this... forgive me if I'm making it confusing... I GENUINELY appreciate you taking the time to help me out

so your bag is still closed with some small holes for gas exchange???

if so as long as you leave it alone and the temps are proper it should be alright...hth

yeah colonization needs a little air exchange/ more air exchange will promote fruiting. if you are still interested in mushies after this grow. i would learn how do make a slurry clone and then make some grain jars to spawn.

To be specific, while colonizing you want very little air exchange resulting in high levels of CO2 - up to 10,000 ppm with some species but 5k is great. Mycelium requires oxygen but the point is that high level of CO2. One of the most important fruiting triggers has nothing to do with spraying but has to do with reduced levels of CO2. As far as temp is concerned, your particular brand will grow at any temperature above freezing and thermal death is well over 90 degrees, do don't worry so much about temp.

thank you so much canndo! I know I probably confused things by mentioning the fruiting chamber...but everyone's answers have been VERY helpful!
