Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a longtime Republican, is sticking with President Barack Obama in this year's election. He tells "CBS This Morning" he respects Mitt Romney but thinks he's been vague on many issues.
Speaking of Obama, Powell said the president got the United States out of Iraq and has laid out a plan for leaving Afghanistan "and didn't get us into any new wars."
He praises Obama's economic performance, saying that while difficult choices are ahead on taxes, spending and budgetary policies, "steadily, I think we've begun to come out of the dive and we're gaining altitude." Powell, a retired general, also formerly was a White House chief of staff and chairman of the military's Joint Chief of Staffs.
Powell says that he's still a Republican.

Bullshit! Seriously?

This is going to get ugly. The right is going to scream that he's only supporting O'Bama because he's b-l-a-c-k.

Yeah, just like the left screams the only reason whites do not is for the same reason!

well, maybe not in every case, but certainly in your case that would be true.

i mean, people don't just go around calling other people "niggas" like you do without having some deep seated resentment.

After the UN debacle I wouldn't blame Powell if he changed parties. He was used and (don't know him personally, so jmo) he seems like a high integrity guy, that had to sting.

I do wonder if he would have endorsed Hillary.

Nigga pleeeze! You mean white guys don't go around calling other white guys nigga in Oregon!

The only thing you know about racism living in Oregon, is what you read on the on the internet!

Colin Powell is not a republican, and far from conservative so I don't really see how this thread is news. It only confirms what most people already knew....

colin powell's views are actually quite conservative on many issues. if he were running he would get my vote easy.

i dont agree with all his positions, but he is a stand up guy, with a track record of integrity, and thats what obama lacks.

the only person who agrees with everything any body thinks is themselves.

my momma is a hard line romney booster, but i just dont trust him. he has too many contradictory statements, and he is a neo-conomist who thinks spending tons more on one thing, and a little less on another is balancing the budget.

one of my brothers is a hardline obama-naut. he would follow The One blindly, no matter where he leads. even obama's betrayal of his campaign promises to the left hasnt taken the shine off my brother's love for his new icon of "hope"

both the major party offerings are crap, but romney is a little less crappy in my view. i know some obama supporters from last time are not too thrilled either. nobody outside the circle of the faithful will enjoy the results of the election no matter who wins. thats how partisan politics and the two party system works. you either charge over no-man's land into the enemy machine guns, or get shot as a coward in your own trenches. both sides expect the same from their troops. die gloriously in service to the party or die ignominiously as a traitor.

The only Republican more Democrat than Colin, is Arnold. And when somebody shifts their views to the point where they focus in on race, then they are no longer conservative. What I agree with Romney about the most, is that Obama has got to go. I didn't vote for Romney in the primaries. You don't seem to understand that people are scared to death of losing their freedom. A very smart man once said, "freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction" If you've never seen tyranny before and you take your liberty for granted, then fine; but I know better.

Its really hard to tell the difference between Rs and Ds these days. I suppose you can tell the difference by seeing what they want to rob us blind to spend money on. Military? Republican. Social programs? Democrat. Of course this is not definitive, many cross the lines, but is a decent indicator.

arnold is a real conservative. the left hated him for cutting their special programs and wasteful boondoggles, and the neo-con right hated him for cutting their special programs and wasteful boondoggles.

colin powell is very much the same. the dems only like him as an example of a republican who "saw the light", and the neo-cons feel betrayed because he left the fold.

im close to leaving the fold too, the neo-con right is NOT the republican party i joined 30 years ago. its now run by jingoist dimwits who want to bankrupt the country with THIER programs, while screaming like schoolgirls over the dem's plans to bankrupt the country with THEIR equally stupid but totally different programs.

either way the neocons and the "new left" progressives are bankrupting the country. if you pick a side and land with either of those two teams youre no friend of mine, or of the constitution and this federation of sovereign states.

Still on probation, then?

Why would you put a comma between "probation" and "then"? Are you semi-retarded? When you are able to put more than 4 words together, then you be sure to let me know.
