Some people think Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama was more for racial reasoning and personal gain than for a shared ideology.
Of course Powell was also part of the Bush political team that indiscriminately murdered dark skinned people in the Middle East for money, so it seems he doesn't always endear himself to dark skinned people.

Everyone (republicans) love to say that black folks voted for Obama because he's black. Yet I've never once heard anyone question how many white people DIDN'T vote for him for the exact same reason.

That's a fair point. However, it doesn't explain why a person would vote for somebody simply because they share the same race or gender. Two wrongs, etc.
The last "real candidate" I voted for President was Ron Paul in 2008. If he had been a black woman holding the same positions, end USA's foreign aggressions, audit the fed, protect civil liberties etc. I'd have voted for her.
It's not likely I'll vote for anyone again on the federal level since I don't consent to any of them. If somebody claims to be my "leader" without my explicit consent, they are really claiming to be my master. Fuck that.
