COB / QB yields

Where did all gram-per-watt discussions go, in relation to cob and qb?
Nobody talks about that anymore. What happened?
Now that theyve been around a couple years youd think people are dialling in with these things and numbers are going up?

I think gpw has gone out of favor as a metric because there are a ton of factors that can affect it that don't have much to do with the actual light. SCROG and SOG for example can produce really high gpw even with kind of crappy lights.

To try and answer your question, I've been using my QBs for a few grow cycles now and I've hit at least 1 gpw every time and the only training I'm doing is topping the plants twice and minimal trellis training.

Ya.
I know.
I made that very argument in an epic thread prolly 5 years ago, with the caveat that if you offer some details about the grow (such as veg time and growing method...hydro or not) then it is still a useful guideline for comparison.

And so lots of people still use it on this site, just not so much in thiz section of the site. So i wondered... has it waned here because popularity of cob has waned or???

Loved my old cob and my new one more.
Doesnt make your qb or strip build any less effective. I would love to see a cob/qb/strip light shootout 12/12 from clone but doubt there would be any real difference in weight between the three.
Hopefully someone will give it a shot and prove me right or wrong.

What do you have for cobs?
And whats your grow style? Flood table, dwc, soiless?

I have a microfridge with 10 cxa 1507s, had white blue and red monos in there before that. It is micro so mainline, lst, scrog, everything i could do to stay short.
My tent has 4 cree cmt2890's actively cooled. Its a 2x2.5 and im running them at 200w. They max out at 400 in case i upsize.
Promix and perlite, gh trio

I bought Tasty's COBs a couple years ago now. Cree 3590s.
I did a few runs and kept running into nute deficencies so went back to HPS for two rounds to get my confidence back.

Sold them though. Back to the COBs and going to do flood tables. Im just testing my new room now for temp control.

Good luck with them. Hope it all dials in for you.
I am just growing for headstash and hobby, so you arent going to see any record breaking gpw from me. :bigjoint:
