CO2 Burner - Electronic Ignition

I run a C.A.P. Gen-1 NG for co2, but wonder about adding or modding Electronic Ignition. The pilot light alone causes extra dehumidifier time & heat. Has anyone done this? CAP sells an electronic Ignition Module, but Is rather upgrade existing unit than buy a new one. I’d really appreciate some feedback on this.

I wouldn't mess with it. If you want a unit with an electronic ignition look at getting a new unit. All of mine have the electronic ignition, Sentinel and Titan are the ones I use.

Problem with electronic ignition is you need to install a solenoid valve that will open the gas line when it's trying to light. It also has a sensor that detects the heat from the flame, if that doesn't happen it doesn't let the gas keep running and it delays a failed ignition before trying again to prevent gas buildup.

That’s what I needed! 10-4. I do a 4-burner with 2 burners capped, as my room isn’t that big. Looks like around $300 will get me a new one, & I bet I can sell my old CAP for $100 or more. Eliminating that pilot light is frankly worth a couple hundred, amortized over the next 5 years or so.

Renfro, I always appreciate your sharing your knowledge n experience. Thank you.

Hey Man... I've always run propane burners. This new room will have NG Autopilot brand burners. I thought they were just "plug n play", didn't know I needed to buy a solenoid to get it working. Below is a picture of the inside of the burner... is the circled part the solenoid? Just wondering if this unit already has one build in.

It's built in. A regulator is what you circled, the solenoid is the thing just to the left with the blue and red wires.

As you can see, that unit has multiple solenoids, this way you can set the device to run only certain burners, making it scalable.
