and we've all had them..some of us seem to have (lots) fun with the RIU newbs..now let's turn the tables and talk about your biggest fuck up!

i dare you; to bare you..let's see who's willing to step up to the plate?..

i'll start:

it was my 2nd grow..i was so proud of myself because grow #1 turned out perfectly! and it was some of the best fire! i read up on everything so when i went to hydro for the first time he didn't really have to teach me much was actually pretty impressed that i 'studied' before coming in. he said most just show up and want to be schooled on something that takes a year to master.

anyhoo..somewhere in week 7 something possessed me to 'help' my plants by de-fanning in order to gain more light below..then i had gotten busy later in the week might have been out of town on biz..but they were drooping thirsty..so what did i do? yup! you got it! i put nutes in the water FF line-up and add-ons (hey! this was back in the day!) so your talking cha-ching with a P of 50.

needless to say..this was one time when soil was not forgiving and there was no flushing that fried mess..in order to remind myself: i kept one mason jar of it and had for 2 years before i finally tossed it when i moved.

whenever in doubt: less is more..you can always add, but hard to take away.

EDIT: and since this was #2, had nothing waiting as i hadn't mastered perpetual..so you're talking from seed that was a hard lesson.

still not a pro... but my first grow, I put some mexican schwag seeds in a germination tray, watered them to start germination, and put the tray outside in the woods near an industrial park. In the heat of summer, 100 degree days. Was living at parents house. Came back a week later and nothing had germinated. Gave up for three years lol.

nice! but a better alternative would be the basic coke can..dent on top; punch holes..and you know the rest..believe it or not picked that up from a friend who worked at the same restaurant when i was a kid bartending and the cook was a crackhead:wink:

wow.. Definetly. Not a pro but ill chime in a couple years ago when I first started I had about 20 seedlings in a jiffy tray with a humidity dome outside in the yard went to check on them one day and discovered tons of little ants crawling on them . Thinking I would fix this before they ate all my plants I shook abunch of seven dust on them and then watered them . Came back an hour later and I had massacred the ants and the plants
 
I've been growing for 12 years, just the other day I had a really close call. Brain farts,being impatient, just plain rushing things can cause a big fuckup. I was spraying nukem and trying to rush through chores. I went into the veg room and on the way grabbed everything I needed after spraying the flower room. Came back and turned on the lights and my veg plants' leaves looked..... different. I looked over and saw that I did not grab nukem, but grabbed the cal/mag. Super high concentrated dose and now the lights are on. Quickly turned off lights and proceeded to rinse the hell out of everything. Saved them but I think I would have lost all my indoor and my outdoor clones/seedlings, after months of work. Just happened to notice. Ooops.

sometimes going back to the 'basics' (not rushing around is part of it).

damn close call..luckeeeeeee!

it would have sucked to lose months of work.
