cloudy and amber too late!

can't talk trimming like crazy. wondered why the first pulls were better. left hand is to sticky to use caps.

If you have ever experienced pure thc you would understand why most people wait for at least 30% amber. Rather than try to explain why and the technical reasons behind it, on your next grow, trim a nice bud off early, say 7 weeks, with no cloudy's, just clear. Once you sample it, you will understand. Peace W

I've done the clear before, don't much care for it. I wait too long all the time. From now on, i'm going by the over all look of them. I'm starting to get some experience going, but let the trial and error continue till my lungs expand.

so are you suppose to cut plant when buds are 30% amber??? do they taste bad when they have no amber at all???

I think for the most part that works, but not all the time. Harvesting clear gives horrid taste and buzz. I always wait for few amber, but one strain I have never showed any amber till all the white ones turned a yellow creamy color. I pulled it and its great smoke. I'm still trying dial it in closer. If I wait till 30+% my plants would look dead. At that point I could flick off leaves finger football style.

Just checked out Ed Rosenthal's growing book and in the harvest chapter he says, "When they start to turn cloudy, the THC is detteriorating to cannibnol, which is only one-tenth as phychoactive as THC." All the grass I have grown I've waited too long it seems. Why does everyone on here say to wait when Ed says pick!

Ok not to say he doesn't know what hes talking about but his option does differ from other notable growers and authors like Jorge Cervantes (hightimes and author of Marijuana horticulture arguably the best book). I can tell you from personal experience that clear trichs are not a better or more enjoyable high at all in fact its usually short and awful tasting.

The simple fact is that when the trichs are clear the bud is premature and harvested way too early. The % of amber depends on the grower, we each grow the kind of high we enjoy. I personally like a more cerebral head high so I harvest at 10-15% amber those that enjoy "couchlock" go for more. The only way to really know what % you want is with trial and error  best of luck dude!
