is it possible when you clone early to sext a plant and find out that one is a male, can you just go ahead and grow it from that stage with the male parent and the female clones in another room straight to 12 and 12 and make healthy seeds?.. (blue cheese from mjseeds)

is that not inbreeding.... which results in bad genes.
unless you get 100+ seeds , do all the trial and error. find the one female that is superior to all and clone that.

so just set the males back and keep the pollen until the best female reveals herself?

no keep them separate, this is what you do. when you want to cross breed or pollinate a female but dont want the who crop to have bajillion seeds.

first grown the male and females in two separate rooms. when they are fully mature. male will show signs of little white flowers. and females of cause just have the two whiskers.

on the day you want to flower put a sandwich bag over the male plant and shake gently to get the pollen onto the inside of the sandwich bag.

now remove the bag and close it tight with your hands so none of the pollen escapes and goes air borne into the other room.

place the bag over the selected female bud and just let is pollinate . you can remove bag but if you dont want any of the other females to get seeds leave the bag on and select a lower branch as to not get moisture build up in the bag.

thanks for the info,, but my question still stands,, is it possible to get healthy seeds from direct flowering and seeding from the cloning stage when sexting a clone?

you will get mature seeds, no doubt. but now you have a low chance of getting something better. usually chances are 1 to 5% from a set of 100seeds or more seeds of getting a good mature female with good traits.
you can do it if you have all the time. or take your luck and hope for the best.

Bluecheese isn't a stable strain it is an F1 blueberry x big buddha cheese which means you will have a lot of variation in the F2 (your seeds) generation.

If your clones are rooted and healthy there should be no problem making seeds from them. I would choose the male that showed sex first and/or had the tightest internodes and cross it to a few different females. After harvest choose the female you like the best and use the seeds from that cross. Make sure you label everything along the way.

@Cascadian,,, label stuff,, ppfft.. I wrote the book on OCD.. LOL.. genetics?,, so your saying take the biggest and best of both male and female, before try and make my own seeds,, might be a bit tuff,, I only got12 beans, put 6 in the dirt last night,, I own my own house,, got lots of space to make another grow..... can I string a male along for months at 18/6 with no problems?

I would tend to choose the male with aggressive growth, short internodes, lots of branching, and shows sex early. If you have the space (and OCD labeling aptitude) you could try to cross your 2 best males. For the females pollinate a selection of the ladies with the traits you are looking for. Final judgment on which crosses to keep and grow out should be based on the yield, taste, quickness to flower etc of the traits you prefer. So you won't know until you harvest the ladies.

There are a lot of resources on RIU and via internet searches on crossing and techniques etc. Genetics can get very complex but the best way to learn is to experiment.

You will end up with some plants that are whispy, lanky, or are undesirable even from your selected crosses so grow out several and choose the best of them.

You shouldn't have a problem keeping males on 18/6 but I use 24/0 so not positive. Just keep an eye on them if they develop sacks just nip them off and dispose of them properly.

Good Luck
