Cloning Problems

I have been having trouble keeping my clones alive. I have adjusted temp, humidity, media, and cloning chems.

I am at my wits end. I was thinking of adding cloning powder to my soil when I clone and then using clonex on the cuttings. Has anyone ever done this? If so, does it work?

I appreciate any info that can be provided.

I have 100% success cloning with clonex gel. I use moist seed plugs in a tupper ware container. I set the container on top of a heatpad (one for a fish tank). I maintain 1/4 inch of water in the bottom of the tupper ware to keep the plugs moist but not soaked and I mist the clones AT LEAST 3 times per day. In 7 to 10 days max, all of the clones have full root systems and are ready for dirt/hydro. Hope some of this helps you in some way!

I wouldnt put the powder straight into the soil, just use a minimal amount on the cutting. You really dont need rooting solution at all. The environment is the most important part. If you're trying to root into soil, make sure the soil is very loose. It needs air, so it should drain quickly. You can add 25%-50% perilte, or vermiculite, or something of the like that holds air well. You should describe the details of your cloning process, soil, environment, etc.. It would give people a better idea of how to help.

Practice and patience grasshopper. To save some typing I'll link you to a how too. I use rapid rooter plugs and rootech cloning gel myself.

I've got a problem. My clones are about 2 days old and the bottom part of the stem is turning brown and 2 have wilted over about 1/2" above the medium. I'm thinking that it may be too much (standing )water or the fact that I watered with diluted 1/4 strenghth hydro juice. anyone got any help here. This is the first time this has happened and I've cloned several different strains. The ones I'm having problems with is my Afghan.

I should explain what I'm using. I'm using peat cubes soaked in warm h2o to start. I am using Shultz root power. When I put them in the tray I put about 1/4" to 1/2" h2o in the tray and then put on the dome. I leave the dome twisted around just enough to leave a 1/4" gap on the corners. The leaf is touching the top of the dome. They are on a shelf with a small heater under the shelf to keep them warm. I have them under a flouresent gro light. The light is about 2 1/2" from the top of the dome. My diluted hydro juice is flora, mixture is 6ml micro + 12ml gro + 3ml bloom per/gal h2o. Then I dilute that into 1/4 strenghth. I got this mixture schedule from http://www.progressive-growth.com/hydroponic_recipe-general_hydroponics.php . I've modified it just a little but the numbers I gave is what I've been using on all clones and never had this problem before.
