cloning lights

I have a small height with which to keep my cuttings and am wondering what the best light to use would be? I don't think I'll be able to use t5 tubes as I read that you have to keep them quit far away? My current thinking is using a standard fluoro tube, does anyone know what wattage I should use for say 6-8 cuttings? I understand these can be kept about 3 inches away, is this right? I currently have a spare blue 125w cfl, would this be ok or is it too powerful?

Thanks!

clones will not require much light at first.....if you have the 125cfl that will work......otherwise standard 2-foot or 4-foot 40watt shop light with 6500K bulb will grow the clones just fine.
