cloning an autoflowering strain. Need real advice

I grew an unknown strain and it's been about 3 months. I was hoping they would make good mothers for clones but even under 18/6 they have begun to flower. Now I know you can clone a flowering plant and return it to vegging, but what about auto flowering strains? Am I screwed for cloning these plants?

You cannot clone autoflowering plants. However, you don't seem to be sure of its genetics, so perhaps the automatic flowering on your plant was simply an anomaly.

I could easily see a 3 month plant on 18/6 light cycle think it's about due to flower and prematurely show even without the 12/12 cycle. If you veg a plant for 3 months, it can do this.

thanks for response.
If this is true, how do you keep a mother

theres preflowers and then theres flowering. if all your getting is a couple pistils at your nodes then they are preflowers. these are just a sign that your plant is mature enough to flower properly and you are safe to clone away.

if its actually budding then youve got an auto flower on your hands.
