Cloning a topped top as it appears

Sup, I did a quick search and kept seeing stuff about cloning a topped top. They always referred to a single stem and I'm looking for insight on experiences with taking the whole topped top, per my picture. I'm pretty sure mine is alive, but I really can't tell.. Been 2 days and I had it in a shot glass with soil till just now, moved it to a planter - the soil actually dried out enough to pop out in a solid piece , was under light and a fan, but I didn't see a root at the bottom of it. Just kinda want to know if anyone has done this before on here, maybe a link to a thread or something, cheers

My last couple of clones took more like 2 1/2 weeks to start rooting in soil (it was a bit chilly, to be fair), 2 days is not near enough. The fan's just speeding up the drying up of the soil. Get a humidity dome on there, half a soda bottle or something. But as long is the cutting has/had an active growth tip, and you keep them moist, they've got a shot.

The initial shot glass obviously didn't have drainage so I used the fan to dry it out and move it into a planter. Can't remove a wet mass of soil very well. should be ok now, I keep em moist and spray with water every hour or so. Thanks for the timeframe you had.

"Every Hour"?
No way to clone anything
When it comes to cloning a constant steady environment does best

Water every hour is too much...water more like once or twice a day, depending on how well your soil holds moisture and how much soil is in the container. With a clone, you don't ever want the soil to be totally dried out...but you can't water them so much that you waterlog the soil either. Either of those two scenarios will either kill your clone or simply prevent it from establishing roots. You've used rooting gel/powder, right?

I’m trying to root some topped tops in perlite..and some rooting hormones..y’all think I should have add vermiculite for added moisture retention??...I was trying to go a nuteless media.

I used some superthrive, just dipped the end in, pretty sure it's still alive, I cut 2 more clones since 2/3 look like they're dying. I put a couple cutting in water to see how they react, still alive after a few days but no roots. Will they live? Should I move them to soil without roots?

Zero difference in clonig a single or multi top
I assume that the rooting could go either way, hence the reason for the request for insight, could root quickly to help for both tops, or could go slow due to trying to get more growth spots.

Yes you should move them directly to soil after dipping them in cloning powder/gel. No need to let them sit in a glass of water, being exposed to direct light will really hinder root growth. Also, be sure that when you cut the clone off of the plant, that you take something sharp and actually strip off the outer layer surrounding the stem. This will increase the speed that new roots can sprout out. It just takes researching it, reading up on online guides are a huge help and have a lot of tips. Growweedeasy.com is a fantastic site that I think all growers should have bookmarked. They have an arsenal of information that makes growing a lot easier.
