Clones vs. Seeds

you clone guys...are you doing SOG type grows? what size pots are you using? I have always done seed, but have some mothers being established right now so very curious about this

I prefer seeds, slower and yes males but I do lots of pollen chuck'n. I normally run my seeds when ready to flower I take clone to make another run of the same strain. Personally I just love watching them get started and growing so seeds first and then cloning so that I can keep the better of runs. Now if I were selling or a commercial grower cloning is faster turn around so guess it comes down to what suits your situation.

They both have their upside.
I start w/ seeds and then select the phenos I want to keep
I keep mother plants of those and then take cuts weekly

hahaha i always hate accidently clicking on the auto link when im scrollin through the forums.

But i like clones better personally. They usually start and finish flowering 3-5 days sooner than from seed since theyre generally more mature than a seed. I do both SOG with small ones and LST grows with big ones ive vegged a little longer.

But since the state i live in isnt medical i always have to start with seeds. If i was to say seeds theyd have to be fem. haha

I want to like clones more, and sometimes I do... but dammit how many times have I taken clones home from the club that have pm, fungus gnats, (mites virtually guaranteed), and infuriatingly - mislabeled. and unless you know your source, you don't know how old that plant is and what shape its in. I ran a bunch of super skunk one year that grew just fine - except when it flowered there was hardly any resin, smell, taste or high! the buds were huge - but tired? came to find out the cuts came off a mom over 12 years old that had just been retired - that just doesn't sound ideal. seed plants are great but take forever and a day.

I have a perpetual grow and cure 8 oz./month. It has been a long tweaking process to get all 3 rooms timed right. When I harvest 2 plants I better have 2 20+-inchers in the veg room ready to slide right into the 2 empty slots. Point is -- consistency of phenotype and reliable timing are 2 of the most important factors to me. I need seedlings that grow the same way every time and clones that root and veg at predictable rates. My notes show that 75-80% of my harvested plants started as clones I generated in my dome room (closet). I get the consistency I need by cloning and re-cloning a couple favored strains. I may run 7 or 8 generations of moms and clones from a good strain until I replace it with a new strain. Seedlings, even 2 consecutive orders of the same strain/company, will often grow differently, pheno-wise. That's why I rely on my clones. Most of the seedlings I do plant are freebies from Attitude that I'm trying. And that's how I discover each new favorite strain. Two other factors - one; cloning is faster than relying on seeds. A week to 2 weeks faster vegging, eh? Two; Beans can get expensive. I expect to pay $100-150 dollars when I do order 2 5-packs of beans. Clones are faster, more reliable and cheaper. Works 4 me. Beans and clones have a place of there own in my garden .. I always run full force with proven genetics and seeds are always being tested and produced for backup and future grows . I rotate clones and seeds but of course I have my mainstays too . The quest never ends .

Which do you prefer and why?

Im not exactly sure yet, part of the reason for the thread.

At this time, fem seeds, and cloned favorites and phenoes.

Anyone notice that thseeds started making hella fem seeds???

I checked just a few months ago and they were just coming out with there first fem seed of Critical Hog and i go to check todday and about half of there formerly REG ONLY seeds are now available in fem versions!
