Clone help?

Hi, I'm new here.

I have 30 odd seeds germinating right now for my first outdoor grow.

I was planning on starting them now, finding females, then taking clones of the stronger looking ones, and that'd take me to about late April/Early May to plant.

My question is, do I start them on 12/12 to find the sex fastest or should I veg first?

12/12 outdoors? I don't understand how you are going to force flower an outdoor grow.

If you mean indoors, then I'd advise giving a 24/0 veg. They should mature/show pre-flowers in around this time scale.

No no, cloning's not the problem. I was just wondering if it'd be faster to tell the sex if I put them directly into flower rather than vegging.

If you use the 24/0 system under MH for veg', of course. Your plants should mature/pre-flower in or around 28 days. It could take up to six weeks of veg, depending a lot on your environment.

You can of course go 12/12 straight away and I believe natmoon (a member here) is somewhat of an expert in this field.

This method is not to my taste however. You'd be far better cutting clones from a vegging plant... to my mind doing things properly saves time in the long run.

Well, if they show in 28 days then that'd work out better.

Will you be using HID's? MH is best, minumum 400w. In veg' a lot depends on how much light the plant has to photosynthesise with. If you use fluoro's for example you will need to wait much longer for the plant to mature.

Shit, I'd invest in a good light if I was going to do the ENTIRE grow inside.

So I'm thinking two of those big CFL flood lights or something. More, if necessary.

Edit: So, if I'm trying to plant Mid-april to early May, and it's Feb 4th right now, is that enough time to get plants to show, take clones, and get the clones established before replanting?

Should just about make it if you start now... although i haven't got a clue when it comes to fluoros. I just know they take a lot longer to grow with. fdd2blk, a moderator on here would be better able to advise you in this regard. Sensd him a pm, I'm sure he'll be glad to help out.
