I'm growing indoors as well as outdoors when it's sunny.

Once the hormones for flowering have kicked in does it really matter that the weather is summer-like when the plants are outside (and not autumn-like)?

Also, at what temperatures should i consider having the plants inside? When i put them outside, it's around 11:20 a.m, and the temperatures are around 65º. Is that too cool? And when is it considered too hot to leave them outside? >77º?

:peace:

50 degrees is too hot, i wouldnt suggest going over the low 80s for flower, dense buds could be more prone to mold damage or the buds may just turn out airy due to the heat. id suggest training the plant to grow sideways, this way you expose all your branches and get even buds rather than a couple dense ones that could be damaged by mold, pests, etc.

Thanks crazyhazey!
Train them to grow sideways? thats a good idea... only problem is that i dont have that much space for them to grow sideways when they're indoor.
Also, check my last journal entry and tell me if you think i really need to take some fan leaves (not sure if the flowers are getting too much light...)

I hate removing fan leaves. Thing is, i love the fact they've got a huge SA and give loads of energy to the plant. Would you agree that fan leaves removal should be pointed towards the mid-flowering period where the flowers begin to have a noticeable size?

you are running a shuttle service for mites. every time you bring the plants in, you risk introducing mites to grow area. when outdoors, temp is less of an issue, due to vastly increased ventilation. i would choose whether you want to grow in or out, imo. the hormones for flower can turn off, as easily as they turn on. the plant "knows" how long the day is, and what it should be doin.'

grow area has only two plants, so its not like they can be anywhere besides on those two plants. Do you consider it to be hard to inspect the girls for mites? If any mites appear on them won't killing them seal the deal?
Is your concern because i'm growing indoors predominantly, not using pesticides and so therefore mites are more likely to appear on my plants when they're outside in comparison to other predominantly outdoor grown plants?

You wont even know you got them until they have multiplied and once youve got them your in deep shit. Why bother taking them outside if the temps are only 65?, sun must be weak, better off just finishing indoor where you should be controlling the environment.

you could train them to grow around the pot, itll save you some room. when defoliation is completely necessary, yes, remove leaves. in flower, to redirect energy you should pinch any new growing branches, this is another branch leeching off the energy of the plant. whatever branches you leave will be your main colas, only eliminate leaves that dont get any light penetration.

id take some preventative measures, plant marigolds around your garden, use the flowers in foliar/sprinkle over the top soil, garlic, and small amounts of canola oil in foliar are good for killing mites. i wouldnt use the oil/garlic during flower unless they're getting a heavy rain.
