Choosing An Effective Dehumidifier for a 4x4 Tent

I just flipped my light over to 12/12 to induce flowering. Weather has been a bit on the warmer side these last few days, so temperature is running about 80 degrees while the light is on, about 75 with the light off. The humidity has been about 60%-63%, which is great for vegetative growth, but once buds start to appear, I anticipate this being problematic.

I have a 50"x50" (I think 7 feet tall) grow tent, 6" inline exhaust fan, 6" inline intake fan, and 4 6" clip on circulation fans (one in each corner). I think it is time to look into a dehumidifier. I was looking at a couple:

This one seemed like a good solution - no power needed to run, hangs easily and the product description claims that it will work in a 500 cubic foot area. I am working with about 112 cubic feet, so this seemed like a great fit. However, I am not too sure how accurate their 500 cubic foot claim is... which led me to look for something a bit more powerful.

This one claims to work in a 1100 cubic foot area. Easy to empty, holds 16 oz of water.

Any advice? Anyone use either of these?

From the sounds of those they aren't going to cut it to be honest with you.

I grow 4 plants under 400w in an area that's 7x3.2x8 and my humidity with dehumidifier would be +60%.

I use a 10L a day extraction dehumidifier that once my plants are fully flowering it extracts almost 5L a day out of my room to keep my RH between 42-47%.

It runs at 221w per hour if usage but it does kick on and off during lights on as my open reflector helps to eliminate some of the RH. Then it pretty much runs constantly during dark hours which also helps to keep my dark cycle temps up above 20C which is where I like them to be.

here u go

great i use it in mine empty out every 3 days during drying cycles 2 times with a week in tent

16 oz auto shut off at full.....plug drain hole in sealed water tank ....................i had the vent from this directly under the fan i was using for air movement in the drying tent

justugh: that one looks very similar to the Eva-Dry 1100. So yours will take my humidity down from 60%+ to 40% in a 4x4 tent?

5-6 oz a day is nothing compared to jondamon's 5 liters a day.

can anyone help clear up my confusion?

I'm not a expert but I wouldn't skimp on such item. I would pay 150-200 for one that works good and will last.

here u go this is what i have and it worked great on my last run ....................i will be running that tent again in 3 week for my next set

https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/697409-converting-old-tent-into-drying.html

the humity in the tent was prefect for my dry using that ( the only reason i got it was do to the ran for 4 days and humity in the house was around 70 ...........in the tent it was steady at 55% )

i used a 80 cfm booster fanfor the intake and had a pad over it so the CFM is alot less ......................the most important thing i can say is to have air flow tho the buds hanging up (meaning have a fan in the tent blowing not counting the intake/exhust)

i am still smoking the stuff i made in there from this set up ....................it is still sticky i mean i break it up for 5 mins later i can pick up stuff with just pressing finger tip on it and lift up sticky icky

u only need something for that room (the 5 liters aday is made for the some place it rains 280 days a year and the room is like 10x10x8

the one i lnked is made for bathrooms the place with the highest in the house due to showers and it is a small room too a 4x4x6 tent is 104cf..........bathrooms are like 6x6x8 or 5x5x8..(unless u are a rich bitch with a 10x10x12 bathrooms hot tub shower john and 3 sinks with a sofa in there )

I think you've misread.

He's saying his humidity is currently 63% and he's just switched his lighting to 12/12.
You are talking about drying a harvest.

Entering into flowering my own RH is right around 57%.

During the stretch phase my plants send out a crazy amount of new growth. This all adds humidity.

Yes the one Justugh will work to an extent but you may need 3/4 of them to adaquately drop the RH.

Do you want to buy once and use when needed or buy once then twice and possibly a third time buying wrong each time.

My own dehumidifier cost me around £100 so that would mean about $175 roughly.

If your humidity is at 63% right now the chances are that you are reading it on the walls of your tent which means RH between the plants is probably alot higher due to micro-climates being caused between leaf surfaces etc.

More dry air will help.
