My point was they have nothing to gain from it. Popular opinion in China is that Japan should be wiped off the face of the Earth. But the Central Planners of China have no interest in it. What does Japan have that China needs?

If they let Japan take ownership of islands they claim sovereignty of it makes China look weak.

Kind of like how the Syria debacle made the US look weak.

The US doesn't need Syria to make it look like the weak, pathetic, bitch nation that it truly is, as the US can do that on its own, and DOES so on a regular basis.

Dissenting opinion. There is only one way to hold taken land ... infantry. Boots on the ground.
All nukes do is provide extended denial of territory to anyone. They're the ultimate in scorched and salted earth.
