Building this chicken coop with stuff I can find laying around the house. It will have a front door (and a window box and a front porch). Can anyone who has birds tell me how the inside should be set up?

Check local ordinances/HMO about having a rooster, a lot of places down't allow them.

I’m wayyyy out in the country. That being said I would rather go toe to toe with a home owners association than my woman at 7 a.m. when she’s pissed off at some loud ass rooster

If your planning to do that it's not big enough. Stick with chickens first then expand the coup to allow for a rooster.

You need shelf’s where the chickens can sit and lay eggs. Maybe some steps. They probably want to be up off the ground away from predators.

Thanks man I didn’t realize that the rooster required more space. Does it change things that they’re in a 30ft x 15ft pen?

Yeah from what I’ve read they like to get up to the highest point so I thought maybe some 2x4’s up in the rafters to roost on

I’m planning on getting some adults at the local chicken auction. But if I get around to incubating some then definitely so

They do, and especially for the chicks too. Rooster are dicks in general. If you just want eggs your good. 3 to 4 chickens generally will get ya a dozen eggs good. Just make sure you Give them something to sit on....people around here use a cue ball.
