Hey folks, I'm fairly new here and figured I'd post up about whats going on here.

On my first try at a DWC (or grow even) I found out the hard way how much even a tiny light leak in your reservoir can fuck up your plans. Had a promising lady about 3 weeks along and *BAM*, algae all over my airstones and couldn't recover. Well, screw that. Chopped it and threw that shit out. After that, I had an issue where I had to be out of town for an extended period of time and finding someone to babysit is rather hard around my parts. I know of a few people who are "very experienced" (i.e. old timers), but I wouldn't feel good about having someone in my house with us gone so that one went to hell. Anyways, I wound up somewhat frustrated and lost interest. I didn't have much money tied up in the hobby so I let it sit.

Well, a little while back I decided hell with it, Ill throw one of the 100's of bagseed beans I got from a buddy's "dude" in my aerogarden for shits and see what happens. We had the aerogarden in the kitchen on a table right by a window (smart i know haha). I figured what the hell, might as well see what happens again. At first it was all fun-n-games watching this thing slowly go. During veg I only used the aerogarden's hood with the 2x cfl lights it comes with. Had it LST'ed pretty nicely and it was getting to be a little fun. Even the old lady was getting in on it and I would come home from work ( i work mids, she works mornings) and she would have it bound up better than hogtied.com HAHA. Then things started to change. UH OH! My hood wont go up any higher.

Here she sits now. Being a fatass cow eating 2200ppm @ 6.0 ph, 68*-85*.

OOPS! Still going strong after a little bit of yarn taped to the wall to hold it up haha.

Pretty broken grow I have going, I know. I'm having a good time and learning quite a bit which is what counts right now. Next time I have 100% new plans. Scrog the hell outta it, trim it, maybe top it and I'm definitely not using the aerogarden as this rootball is rediculous. As it is, theres some days where I have to feed 2x because she eats it all up (i.e. tank is dry lol).

Anyways, questions, comments, suggestions, something I don't see that I should?

Sorry in advance for any spelling / grammer, just got off work, half in the bag, have a long weekend ahead of me and decided to get a head start on it with a 12'er of Grolsch and some fine Wild Turkey :D.

:joint: Have a good one folks!

ninja edit> Also, some usefull info for some: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trRnkWzytWY For the most part I did what this fella did. I used rockwool instead of a sponge and things are working out pretty well. I havent seen anyone post about growing large plants with this DIY seed pod, so heres my testimonial I suppose. If your LST'ing, i would definitely go for some type of support structure though if your going to go for a larger plant as she gets a bit wobbly.

  • (Whats up with those nubs??)

Those are places where roots would like to grow...if they were in soil...tomatoes plants do the same thing...
