Ok, so I had 3 autos that I put into 4 gallon pots, with Hyponex and vermiculite(70/30). I totally overwatered them from the get go and more than likely gave them N toxitity(sp?) after more than likely stunting them with that god-awful rockwool. I have also been fighting ph of the soil and scared to flush due to already overwatering. (Soil seems to be gradually drying out). 2 of them don't look super good but ok....one seemed to not be doing much at all. Today, I decided to experiment with the runt and transplanted it from this terrible soil home into my DWC. So far, it seems to be doing at least as well as it was in soil (im sure i'll wake up in the am and it'll be withered)....hope not actually though. Any thoughts, opinions, or suggestions on what little extra care I might possibly throw on it, in order to up its poor, pitiful chance of survival? I figured, I had nothing to lose and the other seedling that is in my DWC is doing beautifully!!

DWC seems a great way to save ur plants

at least until you can get some perlite add 30% to a soil mix avoid

vermiculite as like cat pee will hold nutes leading to serious burn issues

best off is no nutes for 2 weeks, or best is foilar feed

good luck

AWESOME!! I definitely like to hear that I didn't make a total mistake!! Also....I will stay away from the vermiculite, for sure. The only reason I went with it was because the only perlite I could get my hands on was the miracle grow and it had extra nutes in it and I figured I didn't need them since I was already using the Hyponex.

you went from soil to dwc ?

Autos can be a bit tricky as they don`t recover well from root damage normally stunts them

I find it best to start autos in the pot your going to flower them in, but normally that`s a bit big for a seedling

So I either chuck 2 to 6 seeds in a 15 to 30L pot

or I start them off in nothing or a plug or rockwall or small pot but they should be put into their flowering pot by the time they have 2 sets if adult leaves or you struggle to get them to grow to a good size

Yes, I found out just how tricky they are...it's been a struggle. I put them into a 4gallon pot and over watered it right away. It was having a really hard time in the pot along with the soil and vermiculite I was using. So, I figured it was worth a shot to try the transplant being that it probably wasn't gonna be worth a damn if I left it where it was. It may not turn out to have a good result but so far, the plant has made an impressive recovery....we shall see how it turns out.
