Well since I can't tell anyone else about my hobby, I gotta share it with my roll it up peeps.. :) Please check it out and see whatcha think. Comments and advise is greatly appreciated.

here's my small 2'x2'x5'3" grow tent set-up.

Gl60 tent
HTG/floralux 150 watt HPS fixture
3 6500k 26w (100w) cfl's for seedlings, and early veg.
4" GrowBright 175 cfm inline fan w/ carbon filter (exhaust)
4" 70 cfm duct booster (fresh air intake blowing cool air through my light fixture)
7" fan for inside circulation
homemade CO2 with a wine bottle, airlock tube, grommet, yeast, sugar, warm water.. (this is awesome for small tents, and I got this idea from another thread in RIU)
Timex digital indoor, outdoor thermo/hygrometer with wire sensor.

Im running 3 strains.. all fem seeds, white widow x big bud, sugar black rose, diamond line obsession. my temps are between 72* lights off, and 78-81 lights on. humidity around 48%

I went all Fox Farm on this grow.. FFOF soil, Fox Farm trio nute pac (grow big, big bloom, tiger bloom), and FF Beastie Budz. I'm also using superthrive in veg

The plants are 20 days from breaking ground..

Feedback would be great..:) Happy Growing!!!!:leaf:

Is your lights on temp with the 150 and 3 cfl's or just the 150? I've been wondering how hot those 150's get. Is that an enclosed or remote ballast system?

Cheers

I have 2 of those sunsystem 150's in the same tent... and oddly enough grew wwxbb last time too...lol! Temps were fine but that was Oct thru March.... On the few hot days we've had I've had to run the AC as the temps got up around 90-91 in the tent. Be forewarned.... you have plenty of height but that tent is going to be FULL come flowering time I had just one plant and it almost took up the dimensions (length and width)

It looks pretty good, I just have a few comments..

1. I dig the radio. Do you keep it in there all the time and play music to the plants? I think I might add one to my room..

2. ..shit, what was #2? I only ate half a ganja cookie..

3. If I were you I would rethink your hood cooling/ventilation path. You really should be pulling (or pushing) hot air out of the hood, and out of the room. What you're doing is blowing hot air (from the hood) into the room. It might help a little in dissipating the heat below the light, but does nothing to cool the room. If I were you, I would use the duct fan for intake only, but don't forget to check for light leaks on the intake (oh, that reminds me of #2). To cool the hood, what I'd suggest it to have your 175 cfm fan inline between the carbon filter and the hood, then push the scrubbed heat out of the tent.. ..oh shit, I see that may be a problem with your hood as you seem to only have one ducted vent on the hood. Can you add another flange to that hood and go in and out of it with ducting? If not, you might want to consider pushing through your carbon filter instead of pulling (typically not recommended), so you can pull that heat from your hood out the tent and through the filter.

2. Make sure you really check for light leaks on all intake vents. I see some leaks on the sides from the flaps now, which is fine in veg, but you need to have a plan for that in flower. Some people make light traps out of boxes or extended ducting. Come up with a plan which works for your space, while still allowing adequate ventilation.

You know, you'd get much more bang for your buck with a digital 400 vs those two magnetic all-in-one 150's. The magnetic ballasts are very inefficient, and I'd bet money that you're actucaly drawing the same amount of power from your wall as if you ran a digi 400. Also, the all-in-one design will add significant heat to your space, and running two magnetic ballasts in a small space just compounds the problem. Temps over 85 are bad. I try to keep mine below 80. I'm not trying to bash you, just give you useful info which may help you on your path.

I hear ya PJ.... and I appreciate the advice very much!!! I had the idea that I was going to keep things very small with one 150W.... but we all know how that goes... looking back I def would have done things differently. Having said that, they work great in the cooler months.... but I know I'll be having issues come July and August

Thing is a 150w is around 16,000 lumens, so with the two you have 32,000 but likely pulling over 400watts due to inefficency. Compare that to a 99% efficient digital 400w ballast at 55,000 lumens. Keep an eye on craigslist, you can get a 400 digi plus cooled hood for $100 if you check every day. Then sell your 150's for $50 a piece and be even steven with 20,000 more lumens for the same price tag. Also only one bulb to replace is better than 2.
