image.jpgHey there just wanna show off the new aerotube sprayer setup...started out with 3 NL blue and a freebie Diesel all autos to test out the brandy spankin new equipment while the mamas get big enough to grow some clones. Never done autos before- got em either free or by being baked while ordering.
I was inspired by Stinkbud and copied most of the design from the fence post aerotube setup posted in the sticky thread entitled harvest a pound every 3 weeks at the top of this section... Which I do not plan to pull off btw- I only need say 6 oz per every 9 weeks or so for which I am hoping will keep my bitchy ol lady & myself medicated enough to stand each other....I'll put up some more pics soon but here is one for now. Please tell me what you think and I will answer any questions but I'm no expert & still learning this. Check it out:

image.jpgNo idea why the pics are upside down but here's another one... Sure had fun putting together these aero systems and it's really easy. Spent a bit more on PVC than I wanted to but that is only because I bought the pieces pre cut as I don't have a good chop saw...yet. Got 4 autos going in there now we shall see how well they do... Stay tubes I mean tuned for updates

Nice midnite (other than the upside down pics - lol). Never done this either but thinking of mixing NFT in with some soil next round, just need to finish a new room (20 hours left = 2 weekends). Built an aero cloner a few weeks back and wish I had done that a long time ago, they're freak'n awesome. Hope it goes well for you. Will you be posting some updates here as you put this into production? Cheers...
 
SS has given me excellent advice in the past... Learned so much reading SS & others posts here on RIU I'll put up some fresh pics when there's something worthy of updating in the tubes

Thanks Tree! Copied the design from Stinkbuds thread "harvest a pound every three weeks"...it's amazing how fast they grow in aero systems- it's like every time I peek in my tent they are bigger than before- once rooted growth explodes in these tubes. No more ph issues & root rot- stopped even checking ph daily it's so stable -absolutely love griwing in aero & recommend anyone who is fed up with their DWC to build one of these
 
Looking great midnite, glad you're so positive on this method, definitely in the cards for me a couple of months out, keep up the good work and updates :)
 
I'm telling it on the mountain- hanging the roots in air eliminates all the problems associated with hanging the roots in water. I spent $100 on PVC pipe & have almost enough left over to build another one. These systems are so easy and fun to build
 
Building them and designing them is half the fun :) I have all the parts as well, don't think it cost me any more than $100 and enough to build an aero cloner which blew me away how easy/fast it works, enough to build the flowering fixture (will get to it after a few other things like finishing my new room so I have somewhere to put it!), and a bunch of LST/SCROG fixtures, just getting started on those. Always something, that's a good part of the fun, and addiction ;)
 
Yeah I overpaid on the PVC a bit because I bought it precut to length but these aero systems are the way to grow for sure. Here's an update from last week- I'm having some ph rise issues right now but I think it's just the plants eating nutes faster than the buffers can adjust it. There's so much O2 going to the roots even 500 ppms is not enough it seems- gonna add more nutrient & see what happens

Major design flaw noted- if you wanna build an aero rail system be sure to leave an easy way to check water level of the res... Using a yardstick is just not cutting it. Left a small slot for the stick and to put a hose for ez res changes but then I taped up every crevice that looked like it could leak light. Great but with the black bottom it's impossible to gauge water level. I'll need to cut a hole for better access then put something over it for light proofing.

Good point, thanks for sharing, will keep something in mind for this when I build mine. Haven't spent any real time thinking about the details but have definitely been thinking it'd be well worth some time spent up-front to ease maintenance/time before getting into this.

How about a float-type gauge? I'm thinking something like they use in oil heating tanks... Don't know what's out there, digital would be nice, problem with those old float type gauges is they don't typically show fine/accurate enough increments. But there has to be something out there... Only issue with this could be some light leaking. For draining, I'm thinking some kind of valve shut-off system to the sprayers, with a male hose thread/tap between there and the pump, put a hose on it, then just open the tap and run the pump to drain it. I have a sump pump in my new room, which is a bit of a pain to work-around, but will be handy to pump water into, it'll then just pump it outside, like having my own sink without having to plumb it in :)
 
The something out there will be a cork,a bamboo chopstick, & a small hole in the top of my res with a rubber grommet for light blocking the small hole..I will mark safe & low levels where determined -an ez fix. I installed a ball valve that you can use for getting water sample for ph/ppm or res change outs. It is T-ed off the main pipe to the 396 gph pump below submerged in the res- when I turn it on it depressurizes the system preventing the roots from getting sprayed. Great for when you want to check ppm or ph before the nutrient flows to the plants.
