Changing Setup - Time to upgrade from my current LED's, opinion on these two?

Hi everyone, quick run down

Dr150 Tent (5x5)

Aeroflo 36 Unit (4x4) (2.2 plants per sq ft)

Currently running Two 1st Gen generic 450W LED's that are due to be phased out of my setup for lack of yield and density.

Going to be switching to single cola SOG with this beautiful Critical+ pheno I have found. Gunning for 1-2oz dried per plant without CO2 so I'll need plenty of light, might introduce CO2 later on.

Here are the two contenders I have in mind right now.

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/511422532/650W_Apollo_16_4th_generation_led.html

Both lights have 240LED's. the latter apollo light runs on 700ma which I believe causes the higher wattage discharge.

Opinions? I was thinking of getting two to four of one of the above listed lights with a 60 degree main lens and a 90 degree secondary lens.

I was also looking into the 420w helios h4 but have been told that the Apollo line is better. insight?

My budget is $2500

How much area are you trying to cover. If your going apollos. Go to cidly. They are the manufacturer of apollos. I think bysen makes the nova. Not 100% sure on that one though.

With that budget personally I would go with area51 led or inda gro induction. A51 does bulk discounts, inda gro sometimes does.

700mA is higher watts but they are also maxed out so they don't last as long and limited to the number of whites and/or blues because they run higher voltage than reds. By that having to much red. If going Apollo I would get the aquarium ones. They have 12 leds per modules instead of 15 like grow apollos. You can have more whites with aq apollos. They run 1450mA drivers and run the whites and blues at 1420mA. So not maxed out. When the red 630nm and 660nm are added in , they run at a lower voltage and so they will be driven softer and last longer. Also possibly can create a higher par / umoles..

The aq apollos after swapping reds in will run lower watts. Not much. It's also cheaper .$209 + shipping for an Apollo 8 aquarium. cidly does bulk discounts too.

5x5 tent / 4x4 Aeroflo 36, as mentioned at the top of the first post. 16 sq ft.

Aiming for 2.5lb with this critical+ clone I received. How many LED Watts would be sufficient to achieve a feat like this? I have experience and a controlled environment, just looking to change things up a bit. I had been running aero autoflowers for some time and am tired of it.

.5gpw tells me I would need 2270W, .7gpw =1620W, 1gpw = 1135W. I've been consistently pulling about .5-.6gpw with my first gen lights

I have been emailing someone from cidly and she claims the higher discharge is now available thanks to their upgraded heat dispersing technologies. (potentially doubtful)

The area51 site claims this

"Limited Availablilty!! Once our stock is gone, this light will no longer be for sale as there will be a new series to replace it.Units remaining: 3 units"

Sooooo, wait for this new light to come out first?

No word on the "new" Helios h4 LED's?

bmw626, I have been intently studying led tech for several years. IMO, there is away more advanced tech that should be hitting the streets within the next 6-9 months. Even if it cost 20% more, you will recoup and still be relatively current 2 years from now

bmw yes you could wait for the new a51's . They are all cree leds. Supposed to be out sometime this month. the af600's they have are awesome too. They're at the lowest price ever. 6 months ago they were 500 more. Check green Santa thread or endurox. Same person though. There's a couple other threads with the same light
