cfls vs other lights

can i use cfl's for the full growing process or is it much better to use them for just the veg process and use hps for flowering??

Use CFL for Veg and HPS for Flower if you have the money. If you don't (like me) then CFL's will do just fine. Just try to get 2700k for Flower and 6500k for Veg if you go with CFL's.

Under the proper conditions, bigger lights mean bigger yields. I'd recommend using HPS all the way through if you can afford.

CFL's work from start to finish using the spectrum's newb19547 pointed out. Personally, I use MH for veg and HPS for flower. If I get in a jam and still have things going and no MH available, I use straight up flouro tubes (48" shop lights).

Other than for expense reasons, I would only advise CFL over HPS for flowering if you are very limited in height in your grow space.
