How many 20 w 2700k 1200L CFLs would you recommend for flowering 1 plant ? Currently stands around 18" very healthy green colour and was veg under cool white and blue 80w tubes . Will try post photos later on.

You can get 300w equiv. cfl's from either home depot or lowes.. they're great for flowering alone or mixed in with other lights.

Thats a 300 w equiv hanging in back.. i used it to supplement t-5's late n flower

Cheers for advice , and how important is mixing in 6500k ? What results have been achieved from this? .... Some very nice pics posted , I'm shocked to see such nice bud from low watt Cfls . This is my first time using CFL lighting

The 6500 just gives you more of a natural light spectrum plus it helps to keep the internode spacing tighter during the stretch. This was my first grow with t-5's.. Put a mix of bulbs in and turned them loose..
This 1 finished out bout 7ft topped early and prob 4ft wide..

If I use 4 2700k and 1 6500k Cfls 20w each totalling 100w over 1 plant will it grow proper flowers? Will I be disappointed with results due to not enough light ? Thanks for all the advice :)

You'd likely need a minimum of 6 x 20w bulbs to flower a plant of that size in a small closet. Already at 18" in height, she'll likely stretch a fair bit once you switch to flowering. You could get away with using fewer bulbs if you used a higher wattage. A 60w bulb will put out far more lumen and you would only need 3 lamps in total. Definitely try to use a full spectrum throughout the plants life as well. During vegetation use 2/3 6500K light. While flowering switch to 2/3 2700K light. Light in both the red and blue spectrum are needed for photosynthesis. In fact plants use light from the complete spectrum, with the exception of green light. Sunlight provides plants with a complete spectrum light. The closest thing you can get to mid-day sunlight is a full-spectrum T5 lamp (6700K).

If you keep the plant with an even canopy you may can get by with that.. This is 1 of those cases where more truly is better.. You can run 4 of the 100w equiv, cfls for the same cost as 1 100w reg bulb. just put a few more as the plant progresses

I prefer to keep my plants relatively short if I'm going to be using any form of fluorescent lighting, be it CFL or T5. While I the love the color rendering of the bulbs and the low heat, they lack the light intensity I desire in a flowering bulb. Unless you're using a SCROG or growing auto-flowering plants which finish at under 2' in height, I'd recommend using a 250 HPS/MH combo lamp for best results during flowering.

Check the tips of the leaves on the plant. Im not an expert (2nd grow with cfl) but I know theyre not happy when they curl up or down sharply. Maybe someone can chime in with the answer.

im using cfls atm only in veg stage tho. i got 2 plants, im using 6 23W 6500k cfls and 2 23W 2700k.. each 1600 lumens

when i go to flower i will use 8 23w 2700k bulbs and 2 6500k 23w bulbs total of 16000 lumens for my 2 plants this is my first time
