Cfl whole room grow

My mate is wanting to do a 3.8x2.6mtr full room grow using cfl grow lights instead of HPS lights.
My question is,has anyone ever done a full room grow using just cfl grow lights???
If so was the outcome/yield any good and is it even worth doing or is it a waste of time???

It's a waste of time with cfls.....plain and simple.
You would have to invest in some leds or buy hps.
To put the amount of bulbs you would need in perspective.....

I have 40-23w bulbs in a 2ftx5ft closet and more wouldn't hurt:)
By my conservative estimation you would need at least 320 23w or larger cfl bulbs:eyesmoke:

Trust me I was sayn that its a waste of time aswell and u prob won't get a good yield anyways.
Been told by hydro shop owners here that leds are shit as to grow with, only good for veg stage if u wana use them..
Doing full room HPS grows here in aus is pretty hard since weed is illegal here still lol.
But yeah HPS all the way with me I say

Oh and he was planning to put a 135watt cfl grow light on each plant and put little ones to reach the bottom of the canopy..
Isn't the calculations like 10,000kelvins (dunno if that's the right spelling) of cfl light per square mtr or is that useless in a full room grow?

Kelvins just measure color temperature, what you're thinking of is lux or 'lumens per square meter'. 10,000 lux is the minimum for "consistent but sparse growth" 20,000 lux is the min for "robust growth" according to >>link

With cfls putting out around 60 lumens/watt you would need around 333 watts/meter^2. Put 2 135 w and at least 3 23 w every meter and you'd meet the quota for the bare minimum. I'd honestly love to see this put into action just because it would be so ridiculous but the hands down smarter choice would be to get an hps, pretty sure there's some aussies on here that grow with hps too.
