CFL Questions

I have a 300w 8u dual spectrum CFL with powerplant reflector on order, this is apparently ment to be pushing around 18,000 lumens.

I plan on growing a single feminised autoflowering seed (have a couple MI5, bcn diesel, and super cali haze) at a time

I have a couple questions

1. Will this globe be enough for a single plant?
2. Will the dual spectrum (both 6400k and 2700k i know its usually 64 for grow and 27 for flower) be okay for the entire lifecycle of the plant?
3. What is the best cycle to use? I've heard 18/6 is best but also read good results from 20-4 and even 24-0 - so which is best?

Any comments/advice welcome

i really like vegging at 18/6.. some people go 24/0 or 20/4.., but i think plants really appreciate the extra nap time. ive never heard of those bulbs so im stumped there

Sure, I grew 8 under a 250w and got 3 zips:

I don't see why not. I did a 125w 6400k for veg and switched to 250w 2799k for flower

I would do 12/12 from seed, mine were clones and I only vegged for like a week before I flipped them to 12/12. (no experience with auto so take with grain of salt)

He got Autos so they set their own veg time???

Yeah I'd like to see the specs on that bulb, cause I think he is misinterpreting the "full spectrum"

oh ok.. i missed that they were autos.. thats my fault bro... both 6500 and 2700k together is a good mix of spectrum like bonzi stated

it basically has 8 unit loops - 4 of them are 6400k and the other 4 are 2700k all in one globe

not a whole lot of info on there - but i called and spoke to the guy

he said 300w is equivalent its actual is 190w and should push about 18,000 lumens

he said there were 2 versions the 8u and the 9u - he said the the 8u can have dual cos it has an even number of coils (so 4 red and 4 blue) but the 9u is uneven so can only get it in blue OR red

he sounded like he knew what he was on about but he could be talking absolute shit - but i have read excellent reviews for basementlighting here on RIU
