CFL Lights Orientation

I have a box setup that is 1'-6" tall. I plan to have two CFL's inside.

By having the CFL's going straight up and down, i can get more light towards my plant, but i must sacrifice the vertical space to a mere 8-1/2" tall.

If i have my CFL's to the side, i will have less light going towards my plants, but will give them 1'-4".

Is the extra 6" of space worth the less light?

go to the CFL forum... and dude... your gonna have some really small plants, and its gonna get hot, and your gonna have some small buds... if any. maybe think of somewhere else to grow? with more room.

If you have the CFLs, vertically along the sides it will work quite well, it will promote bushing and help light penetration. Also, you can put the CFLs on the top, but just laying down horizontally, they only use about 2 inches of space, and they give off more light from the sides that the end. I would go for a mix of the both, a few on the roof horizontally, a few along the sides of the plant, vertically. Oh, and in such a small space, you're gonna have to start flowering quite early, maybe even from seed...

i know for the first grow i will have to flower early to get some females to show, then ill clone them, replant in the same pot, and start vegging. im going for a sea of green grow kinda thing.

Ohh, and sorry about the wrong post forum, i thought this was universal "about growing".

Thanks for the feedback.
