Hi

i am growing under a 125w CFL grow light, in a cupboard.
i was wondering do i need an extractor fan?.....or just a small fan blowing around my plants??

thanks
Mushyyyy

Get a thermometer in there at canopy level (top of the plant) anything above 90 can be detrimental or destructive.

Yeah they are right mushroom. Just keep a fan on the plants and it will be okay. Im running one 105 Watt 5000K CFL and two 42 Watt 2700K CFL's in my closet and i still keep my temps under 80.

hi there, new to growing indoors, yet to start, grew outdoors last year from bagseed and got a great result, just by watering it an leaving it alone.
obviously i missed the time of year this time, didnt have much of a summer in the uk anyway lol

anyway, i was wondering, i dont have a big enough cupboard to grow in, so i plan to section off a corner of my room with floor to ceiling opaque curtains (or a similar idea). reckon this will be ok? and also, are the lights that dr chronic mentioned, 1x105w 5000k cfl and 2x 42w 2700k cfl, adequate for both veg and flowing periods of growth?

i want to know the right lights to get before i go buy them

cheers

Well i have 2 plants and for now it is adequate since they are still less than 2 weeks old. Soon i will need to add more lighting. probably 2 or 3 more 2700K cfl's and 1 or 2 more 105W 5000K or 6500K cfl's. It all depends on how many plants you are trying to grow and how big the strain your growing gets.

ok cheers for the advice, when i get it up and running i'll let u guys know how its going
great forums by the way, very informative

Uh, I think it all depends on your house temps also. I have a 125w CFL light and it puts off some heat. There are days when the fan is running and the temps get damn near 90. Its in a closet also, not a cupboard. From that fact I think you will need a extractor. 125 CFL ballasts put out more heat than smaller CFLs

Yeah i suppose. Unless your talking about 6500K bulbs which produce almost no heat. Now 2700K bulbs are a different story, i get blinded when i walk into my closet now. The other night i ran into my coffee table because i was blinded and it left a huge cut...man was i pissed :wall:

def get a fan and try to keep the temp at 85 the most. try to get some fresh air coming in somehow it will improve the c02 levels and plants need fresh air. good luck!
