CFL and HPS

Okay so I am currently working on a pc box grow with 3 small plants, 2 White Ice and 1 female afghan haze. They are vegging under 3-100 watt equiv 6500K CFLs. I Know that you want warmer light spectrum for flowering (red spectrum ~ 2700k) and I also know that an hps gives strong red spectrum light. I have also researched MH bulbs vs HPS and read that the blue spectrum of MH offers good taste and aroma while the red of HPS offers higher density in bud. What I am curious is will i be able to somewhat achieve a dual spectrum effect by using an HPS with one or 2 6500k CFLs to add a little of the blue spectrum to the grow.

Or you could just buy a Sunmaster Dual Spectrum Bulb that will fit into your hps ballast and hood I find works amazingly well!

Well i was thinking more along the lines of the more compact hps bulbs that can be found at home depot

the thing iz hps has no uvb ! and uvb good for plant hps iz heat up br0 but mh i say iz better cuz off uvb spektrum but ima cfl man less power less heat and theres a tiny amount of uv

ive never heard of mh effecting taste and aroma. considering that flavor and aroma are very dependent on curing well no matter the lighting used supports my skeptisism of the idea. it may increase thc levels though as it has a higher uv output and one of thc's main purposes is to protect the plant from uv radiation. a mixed spectrum is ideal for all stages of growth as cannabis has 2 types of chloroplasts, one interacts with the red side of the spectrum and 1 with the blue. since outside they get a full spectum they have evolved to take advantage of both. so the 6500k cfls will help in that regard. it will not increase thc like a mh might do. if i were you i'd get a high output spectrally enhanced hps bulb. they are not much more expensive than normal bulbs and are well worth it. its what i use in both veg and flower areas as theyve outperformed everything ive tried(mh, ceramic matal halide, normal hps) in both stages. im kind of excited to start the next veg cycle as i just got a 600w dual tube bulb i want to try out. its got 300w of mh and 300w of hps. should be interesting to see how it compares to me.
