According to that new study in New Zealand, cannabis is more of a carcinogen then cigarettes. Interesting.
Of course, as mentioned, according to the poll MORE people are smoking joints then cigarettes and yet somehow the article has the gull to mention that cannabis could possibly account for up to 1 in every 20 cases of lung cancer! Doesn't add up does it?
Plus, how many of us smoke joints? I would say bongs and pipes must account for at least half the hits, right? So, there's still no filter, but at least they dont have the added cellulose wrapping.
Here's a favorite part of mine:
"In the near future we may see an 'epidemic' of lung cancers connected with this new carcinogen. And the future risk probably applies to many other countries, where increasing use of cannabis among young adults and adolescents is becoming a major public health problem."
New?! Humans have been smoking cannabis on EVERY continent for thousands of years. Longer then tobacco, I believe.''
Anyway, the most disturbing part of this study is there is no distinction made between those who smoke ONLY cannabis, and those who smoke BOTH cigarettes and cannabis. So, I am personally interested in an informal survey of cannabis smokers habits.
IF you smoke both and develop lung cancer, it tells us nothing new about cannabis. IF you get cancer and you have never smoked a cigarette in your life (like Bob Marley), I'm sure we have to assign a small possibility to inhaling burnt cellulose of any plant matter, and lung cancer.
Please contribute to the survey!
