Has anyone out there every tried this? Can plants take enough carbon through the root system? Do they at all? Ive been thinking about this since I started growing. I felt it was too dumb a question to ask. However, I cant seem to find the data on my own. I understand photosynthesis, mostly. lol I know plants take in oxygen through their roots. Is there a reason why this is a bad idea? I appreciate any help so chime in. Just chime in with scientific data or experience. What about mineral watere? How do they react to sulfur? I can keep going I got lots of wheels turning. Please help.
 
cmon 30 views and nobody has a comment? someone must have a greaat knowledge in horticulure or botany than can help. Nobody has tried this? Am I out of my mind?
 
Al i can tell you is try it out. That would be interesting to test. Perhaps it could be a new break through...

Sure, tha's why I'm asking. But I would like some expert opinions first. I'll even take it a step further. I'll grow one full cycle under water. But for now I need some facts. I need to know more about the roots especially. Ive seen different methods of flushing plants after their cut by putting them in water so the flowering shoukd be ok underwater. We already know plants grow in water. We can diffuse C02 in water. Plants take in co2 through leaves, but can they get enough through the roots. That's the first part of the eqasion. Think of the pluses. no fans. no smells. I can keep going. Underwater Carbonated bubbler? lol getting way ahead opf myself.
 
Might need to burp 'em every now and then lol.

Sorry, couldn't resist :). I agree, it is an interesting idea. The premise being that it doesn't matter how or where you make elements available to the plant. Isn't foliar feeding sort of along the same principle in reverse?
