Carbon Filters and Grease Fires

Hey all. Recently while on vacation, I left my sister to tend to my plants until I got back. She did a good job at that, which I thanked her for. But she apparently smoked too much, because she decided to deep fry some food and ended up falling asleep waiting on the oil to warm up. End result: Small (thankfully ) housefire, only had to replace the range and repaint the house, which luckily was a small apartment. She said she couldn't smell anything because the carbon filter was on and the room she was in was smokeless while the rest of the house was more or less pitch black. Either way, I've since been wondering if the smoke from the fire will shorten the life of my carbon filter. As of now it's still pushing out odors the same as before, but I'm just genuinely curious as I don't have much $ to work with and am evaluating my options, as in buying a new filter or taking a shot at the cheaper but harder route of repacking my old filter. It would just be nice to know whether or not all the work would be in vain. Thanks in advance for any and all replies, and sorry if I put this in the wrong place. I still don't have much clue what I'm doing on here :)
