I'm just about to start veg and everything's setup but I can't figure out wether my filter is working correctly. It's a 5inch rhino carbon filter inside the tent. Ducting running approx 2m out of tent where the fan is blowing out through a vent. Anyway to check the odour will be taken away? Any help appreciated ASAP thanks a lota lot

If your wife has a farting problem like mine does just have her sleep in the tent.
Other than that I dont know.
Its an interesting question.
A scented candle or something?

If you don't smell weed it's working. The scented candle idea works too. Carbon filters are pretty basic in their operation. There isn't much thats going to cause them to not work other than extremely high humidity and age.

Thanks guys thort maybe insense or a candle there's plenty of air blowin out the exhaust so hopefully all is going to work. No weed in there ATM. Just doesn't feel like any air dragging into the filter when I'm stood close to it

It is a good question, what's a realistic test besides an actual skunk eating rotten fruit and washing it down w/ diesel fuel while sitting in cat piss inside your tent? And a couple of Mrs. charface's farts thrown in for good measure.
I wouldn't trust a candle or incense to rival the smell of late flowering cannabis volume/intensity-wise. Sure, some don't smell as much as others but S2 obviously likes to be prepared and I don't blame him/her. I have no solution, looking forward to hearing some.

thanks for sharing your superior knowledge jonnyquest you just wasted 2 minutes of ya highly exciting evening to reply a sarcastic comment when other people are genuinely trying to help. Your not big and ya not clever. A clever man learns from his own mistakes a wise man learns from others!!! Thanks to evry1 else for ya help part from mini dick

I test mine by smoking a cigarette next to my tent. If my fiance smells it from the attached room, she flips out and I know it's time for a new filter.

I obviously owe you an explanation for everything I post, so here it is: I have a fan and filter. It would probably filter a glade candle or stick of incense. It cannot, however, keep up with three plants in late bloom, hence my query as to a good test medium, sans cannabis. I'm terribly, terribly sorry you got butthurt, that was certainly not my intention. I was only trying to get the best answers for you (and me) as possible. I guess in your particular case you can just ask your mom if she can smell it. Good Luck!

WTF??? Dont think Lo was being a dick. Did I miss something? He is right that a candle may not be a true test. The one thing you need to know is how many cfm your filter is rated for and not exceed that.

I wasn't have a dig at loud get I thanks him for help. Jonnyquest was bein the asshole!! I've lit a few candles in there but don't seem to be doin much tbh! I thort there wud be some sort of suction from the filter I could actually feel ile try incense aswel see how that goes. My tents in a pretty residential spot so really need everything 100% b4 flowering and evry1 gettin high off the fumes.

If you feel the air being exhausted and all the ducting is sealed its got to be working. Does a tissue stick to the filter, if it is working it should hold a tissue in place i would think.
