I've smoked with locals in a handful of countries and the thing I always notice is it's a price thing. Some countries that joint is $100. No matter how bad it is you praise it like it's from buddhas ass. You cough up a lung you tell them you have asthma. Then you crack off a piece of your hash and KABOOM welcome to the real world mofos. Same all over the world.

In Japan, evidently it's rude to stand while toking. You are supposed to sit. And in Bulgaria, nodding your head up and down means, "no" and side to side means, "yes."
That's not true. Homes in Japan are split between traditional (sit on the floor) or western (chairs table). If you are at a friends home and smoking it's only natural to sit, just like you wouldn't stand and drink a beer at a friends home. Outside you are standing to smoke always because who sits on the dirt ground. Most likely whoever told you that was the victim of some Japanese toker who was fcking with them.
