Canna coco & nutes question...

Im about to start my first grow using Canna coco as the medium,

iv brought Canna classic A/B nutes and was wondering if these are the wrong nutes for growing in coco and i need the Canna coco A/B instead?.

i wasnt planning on a hydro grow which is what the classic A/B seems aimed at, im planning on just treating it like a soil grow except with the coco and some perlite as the medium instead since i had a bag of it laying round and thought it would be easier then mixing up a bunch of soil.

iv tried searching for the actual difference between the two classic / coco line of nutes but cant really find one, the classic is apparently aimed for inert drain to waste systems, and with coco being inert the way i see it shouldn't be a problem...
im just concerned that since they have an actual coco line of nutes maybe it would be a problem?

so basically will the classic get the job done or do i defiantly need the coco nutes for a potted up coco medium?

and if so could someone please explain why?

sorry if these are dumbass questions, iv just only grown soil.

U cant treat coco like soil coco u have to feed plant every day with nutes. As far as the nutes go make sure that A and B that u are using are for veg and AB are for flowering. When the plants get bigger u may have to feed them 3or 4 time a day. I run to waste. I try to get about 20 litres of waste a week if u have any more then that u are just wasting the nutes

cheers for the reply,

yeah i know i got to treat it more like a hydro then soil, im just going to be doing it manually is what im saying, i got the A/B nutes but they are the ones that are said to be designed for drain to waste instead of coco.. what im doing is basicly a manual drain to waste anyway, but im just wondering if im going to be missing out on something by not using the the line specifically designed for for coco though...

if i use these nutes do you think ill need to compensate for extra calmag or something?

i didnt see the coco line at the hydro store they have the terra line for soil though, if its going to be a problem i might just switch to that and go back to a soil.

kinda wanna try coco though

It should work well in coco, but I would add a little Calmag

Coco is great stuff when done right. For nutes I use a brand that's one of the cheapest on the market with is called Superior blend but work great. I will pull 8lbs every time of 6 plants its a lot of work if u are going to do it by hand. This is my run to waste set up small tub is waste tub

Yep use the a&b designed for coco. I use Canna nutes and coco plus. You should always use cal mag as well. I add cal mag as in a dose of half what nutes your giving. For example if your using 2mls of both A& B nutes I would add 1ml of cal mag. Also add Shogun root enhancer to the same amount. Make sure your ph is about 5.7 - 6.0 this is really important. Good luck and if you require and more info give us a shout

I use canna coco with coco hempy bucket and I feed 3ml/l of each during the whole grow, but half strength at the start of veg and at the end of flower. No calmag, no "power bud enhancer", never checked ph once during all my grows, I don't even have any run-off since my hempy buckets don't have any holes, so what I feed them stays with them all the grow. I use leds and get over 1g/w. Just sayin'.

cheers man thats my problem though, the nutes i have are canna classic for hydro not canna coco, im just confused as to what the difference is..
im just wondering if the canna coco has something added for growng in coco that the classic doesn't that makes it not suitable for coco, im thinking it might just be calmag or something i can amend hopefully,

if it makes it easier to understand what i mean here are the nutes i got... http://www.canna.com.au/hydro

and here are the nutes that are specificly for the coco im using as a medium... http://www.canna.com.au/coco_a_b

guy at the hydro shop said what i brought will be fine, but now im wondering if he had it mixed up or the wong idea of how im growing and i got the wrong shit.

end of the day the canna classic has all the nutrients the plants need i guess so i figure it cant be too far off the mark, plus i dont see to much difference between a drain to waste system and manually watering / feeding the plants buy hand each day.like i planned on

i might just stick with the classic and see how it goes this time round, just kinda lost and confused as iv never grown in coco before, seems pretty straight forward though

canna coco is for growing in coco. Canna hydro is for a 100% hydro grow. I also hand water everyday or every 2nd day. When watering everyday you do see a growth difference. I water then leave for 2 hours then I manually drain the the holder under each pot. I admit it's a bit of a pain in the bum but my results are awesome.

Sorry just to be clear, you are growing in coco aren't you ?????? A

You do not have to water coco everyday. Although in my experience watering everyday does help the plant grow faster.

yeah lol growing in coco, sorry if i havent explained my situation very well, i was drunk last night.

anyway found a place that stocks the canna coco nutes and picked some up today so problem solved, the guy i was speaking to said the classic/hydro line is designed more for rockwool and shit but still would have worked fine, figured id swap it for something specificly designed for coco since thats what im using though.
i still cant see the difference between the 2 different lines but whatever.
thanks a heap for the help!
