Canefan's El Monstre from Sannieseeds

Hi all, this will be my second on going journal. The main plant in this grow will be El Monstre and her clones. She was sprouted on the 6th of August and is 34 days old today. She stands 18 inches tall, sorry no girth today, blazed when I measured her and I don't remember. To date she has given up 4 clones which are rooting in the veg room.
She is in organic composted soil in a 3 gallon bucket. I give more complete details in the next post. I am up loading some pics of the early part of her life.

Grow Space you have been more than patient on this. What can I say this is a shitty grow journal. I got all caught up in some personal crap and haven't really felt much like writing.
El Monster is 51 days old and in flower, yeee haaa. She has been a grow steady plant nothing spectacular. Now she is really filling out nicely. I pinched her I think a little too close to sitting her outside. She has only had two weeks since the pinching that she is flowering. Oh well new strain, new time lines. Today when I went out for my morning stroll and walk through of the garden I noticed dark on the buds....... Not having coffee and the sun not fully up the first thought is fungus or mold. I put the rest of the plants outside while I was muttering to myself about the plant. Low and behold it is really pigment in the plant. Wow..... I have seen several other pics of El Monstre and have never noticed this trait. Looks cool so now I don't know if this is just one of the phenos or what.
The clones which I am posting pics of today are showing signs of life finally. This is the hardest plant I have ever tried to clone.
Granted I am not an expert in cloning never tried until 2007, but I do enjoy it now. So, I lost the first clone ever with El Monstre. I was devastated, then the other 3 dtarted going south rapidly. I think that they have finally turned the corner and out of the 4 taken so farm I will get 2.
I have started using a dome on the 5th clone taken and she is looking better through 5 days than the others did. Ok I am putting a couple of the new buds forming on here and then in the smaller pics I will fill in with pics to bring the journal up to date.

El Monstre is doing well, I have come up with a name for her as I do with most of my plants especially the ones I am cloning. I thought of it last night listening to the Allman Brothers, going to call her Melissa.
I am really stoked with what Melissa is doing, I have never had one get so much resin so early. Of course I haven't raised lots of these new hybrids either...lol. I am happy with all these new hybrids don't get me wrong. I think once I get use to 8 week flower times over 12 to 20 weeks I will appreciate things more.
Anyway I have one clone that is rooted out of 4 and living well. I have one that is already dead, 1 that is as good as dead and lastly one that I give a 30% chance of living. I changed my method for the last clone (#5) was taken and put in water with super thrive and root toner. The clone was then covered and placed on my dsl modem. She is looking brand new and this is 7 days now in the water. I looked at her this morning and she is showing the little knobs indicative of roots forming. YEEEEE Haaaaaa. This by far the most unforgiving strain I have ever cloned. Enjoy the photos and as always all comments good or bad are welcome.

I figure I am going to throw in my 5 bagseed plants just to keep things in the journal moving. These seeds come from a friend that grows hydro in Florida, he never tells me what they are just to grow them out and tell him what I think. As the old saying goes "never look a gift horse in the mouth", this is the same batch that I got Runt in my other journal. The plants are two weeks old now and I put them in 3 gallon buckets today. Sorry the pics I took yesterday so they are still in their first pot. I know that lots of people disagree with my method of stepping up the plants so often instead of putting them into their permnent home right away. Let me explain my reasoning: I germ my seeds and put into the small pot and let them stay 2 to 3 weeks. In this amount of time they are at the bottom of the pot and making their first wrap around the base. I step them up to either a 2 or 3 gallon pot with nice fresh composted soil all around it. This goes for 4 to 8 weeks depending how soon I am going to flower the plant. I put them in 5 gallons one to two days before I set them out to flower. Once again this serves to let me check the root growth and state of health. I put them in the last home again with new fresh composted soil. For those of you that are new to my journals and my old school methods, I don't use fertilizers during my grow. I use manure teas and molasses and a drop of superthrive each and every watering. This keeps the soil alive and well balanced and keeps me from other feeding programs. A bit more labor intensive I guess but totally chemical free. This method also serves me in that I don't flush my plants, the soil gives me a nice smooth earthy taste and smell.

Hey thanks for the write up. I just cracked 5 of these from Sannie. They are the fastest germinating seed I have ever seen. 3 days in a rapid rooter plug and they got roots 1 1/2" long out the bottom of the sponge.

They look like they will get quiet big so I may hold off and not crack the other 5 until later. Very sparkly for 4 days into flower.

Welcome aboard Corwin, I am glad to have you here. I am also glad that you are growing some of these beans also. Maybe we can figure out how many phenos there are. I will be updating on clones today when it stops raining and I can get my camera out.
You are right about the speed and the vigor I am posting some pics when she was two weeks old and I stepped her up. I couldn't believe the root system on her.

I have another 5 pack of the el monstre but I am afraid they might push me out of the house if i cracked them.

I germinated a 10 pack of Sannie's Jack and a 10 pack of Killing Kush. I had issues with the KK last time so I am trying rapid Rooters now with bacto as he suggest.

I really should have ordered a pack of Herijuana as they are legendary.

My wife is coming down next week and she has my Sannie's Jack, Sativa Queen, Lady Cane, Walhalla, New Blue Diesel and some more el monstre and two other packs of freebies I don't recall the names off hand.
I just put 2 more el monstres in the germ tray this morning and checked on them like an anxious kid....lol. Right now I mostly growing indica until Dec when the length of days start to increase again.
I have been starting the seeds and keeping them under lights for the first 30 to 40 days and setting them outside to flower. Once I start the Sannie's Jack and other sativas I want to be able to grow some up outside and see what their true potential is.
What other of Sannie's have you grown? I am really interested in his genetics and I bought my seeds so that I could back cross his strains to each other. I tried to get the strains which are bred from each other in order to produce quality seeds in the future. Any info on the other strains you have I will be most interested in.

I planted two, one met an untimely death the other is doing well and was pollinated with a hermie I call Runt (sativa dominate). Sannie told me that they breed very well and will give the vast majority of autoflower seeds.

Hey Cross , sorry about not updating you and tardy in answering. Yes, things have been very busy lately and the wife is arriving Tuesday for the first time in two years....lol I have been cleaning like crazy along with the plant chores.
I will have a complete update tomorrow I think. I am behind on my pics. Your harvest looks good wish mine had turned as nice.

Well guys and gals I finally have started smoking El Monstre. She is over 8 months in the cure jar and is just simply wonderful. My wife has been smoking it for sometime now but I just kept it in the jar waiting, now that I have seeds growing from her I thought I would start taking some of her for myself. She is wonderful, open the jar and she fills the room with her sweet Blueberry aroma. She burns nice and clean, the joints don't run and fills your mouth with her sweetness and then your head with her power.
She is one of the smoothest smokes I have ever grown and her berry flavor is certainly a treat. Now I can only hope that breeding her back with another males is going to produce the same kind of smoke.
My hats off to the people at Sannie's for their work on this cross and I hope that one day it is in their list of seeds instead of their freebies.

I just found two el monstre seeds and put them in the germ tray on Wed afternoon. I haven't checked them this morning but yesterday they were swollen and about to crack. So as happy as I am it sure is messing up what I had planned for this cycle. I have my batch of seeds from last year, the el monstre x el monstre, so I will germ a few of these and see what happens. I am stoked to have the originals again to make a back cross. Now if I can get them to clone this time, diffently the worse strain I have tried.

I have El Monstre F2 run'n right now and am wait'n to move because repot'n needs to happen, but I cant do it till I move.

My El Monstre F2 is verrrry compact, green, smelly (I am still veg'n) & all around awesome look'n. I am anxious to flower her and see if she tastes as good as yours!!

Allglad thank you for the kind words and the info on your el monstre F2. I think that is great to have that. I put 6 of my last year's crosses into the germ tray yesterday and this after I have 1 crack nicely already. I am excited about this grow, more so than most. I have a few little popcorn buds left from last year and when you open the jar it can be smelled several feet away.
Are you cloning her? or do you have any interest in making seeds from her? I have had the hardest time cloning her, so I figured I was going to have to bred her.lol.
Melissa as I call her is pretty stretchy which is what I need for the conditions I am in. I knew that there was that pheno to the strain but I haven't seen it yet.
I would like to see any pics you have.

Maybe my girl (I hope its a she) looks a lil more compact, but not a whole lot. I will try to add pics down the road. ...Hopefully a journal also. I am in the process of move'n though.

I do hope to clone my girl & try to mate her also (after seeing similarities in your Melissa and mine along with your smoke report it makes sense to keep this strain around). I dont know about my girl be'n sensitive to nutes or not (I have barely nuted her and she is a nice color green), but she does seem a lil sensitive to PH (I dont have a new PH meter yet and I lost my old ones) because she does have some slight clawed leafs, not all of them claw so I guess I am just out of her PH range.

I am verrrry anxious to move and repot my girl...I have been wait'n weeks to repot her, she should take off when I do.

Have you mated your girl more than once or?

Thanks Allgood. Yes you can tell that she is mostly indica but the spacing on her is a bit more stretchy or widely spaced. LOL I am a sativa lover and I guess I tend to see things to that side, my persoanl predjuice I guess. I am glad that we have similiar phenos, I am anxious as a little boy waiting for the originals to break ground. I have two of the seeds I have bred that have cracked already under 24 hours, so I hope the rest crack also.
I have grown 3 cycles of el monstre now, 2 were good and one I had a small stroke and hernia operation and needless to say that grow was total shit, perdon my language. I have learned alot about the plant and hope that will carry forward on this grow. I have had I think 2 plants that were fairly heavy feeders, but the rest never accepted more than 1/2 strength solutions of nutes. This grow I am using a different mix of soil than the previous grows.
The new mix is the same as the past,lol, most of it is recycled for the past 4 years, just mixed with the new compost and this abano compost that the coffee farmers use here, all certified organic. I mix this 50/50 with the soil and it really helps break up the heavy clay soil we have here. Things grow great in the straight soil, you can't believe the worm populations here, but it is very much clay and is hard to use in containers. So far my other plants that have used this mix have been much healthier and bigger plants than my past grows. I also changed my nutes on this cycle and my plants seem very happy and don't show signs of lacking anything.
This cycle I have gone to fish emulsion, 3% hydrogen peroxide solution and some molasses. So far I have gotten by never feeding more than 1/2 strength on the fish or peroxide and I use the molasses sparingly these days (I change this on different whims each grow). I have 3 girls that are more or less 4 weeks into flower, that were put to natural daylight cycle around the 20th of Nov. I count my flower time from when I see the pistils cluster and not when I switch their cycle.
Guess I have rambled on long enough for now...lol me and my pipe. Thanks for the input and looking forward to seeing and learning about your grow. I always enjoy watching how others grow the same plant to compare what can be done to improve. Good luck with your move, those are always a pain in the ass.
