Candy or cookie recipe with predictable THC content?

I usually make BHO from my harvest and have made gummy bears and capsules from the BHO in the past. This time I will use the buds for edibles. This batch is for a friend who needs it for pain relief. So I am looking for something that taste good with a predictable THC content. Perhaps start with coconut oil.

Any ideas on a cookie or candy recipe that is popular among medical users?

Unless you get your bud tested it's not really possible to predict the THC content of edibles. We can guess, though. If you're using bud, let's assume the THC content is about 20%. If you add 1 ounce to butter, 20% of 1 ounce is 5.6g. This means you could have as much as 5600mg of THC in one batch of butter.

I regret having to be the one to tell you this as well, but using buds for edibles will always lead to a stronger weed flavor than using oil and the flavor might be bad for some people.

The good news is, I have a great recipe that I learned from a dear friend. They're called the Cross-Crispies. Make rice crispie treats (Better Than Box Rice Krispies, google it) but use cinnamon toast crunch instead of rice crispies. It's awesome and all the cinnamon might help cover up the green flavor from using bud.

Ciao brother.

I just do my math at 70% thc. I make all my edibles out of oil anymore. That would be 700mg in one gram, divide that by say 30 gummies or cookies and you would have 23.3mg edibles. It's a safe number to go off when you don't know for sure, and gives a pretty good reference on dosage.

Yeah I would make the buds into a concentrate like the BHO you've done in the past, or qwiso or even RSO, and then make that into whatever type of edibles you want. That will be the easiest way to guess at dosages, and the easiest way to increase or decrease the potancy. Useing a concentrate to start will usually taste waaaay better since you aren't cooking all the plant material into the oil or butter.

Hi Mike,
Just getting back into it and am trying to quantify dose like you. I made the butter...then sampled it before cooking anything with it. Last batch 1/2 tsp got me functioning but pretty high. 1 tsp got me totally stoned...could still use my mouse. lol

So now 48 tsp in 1 cup. Say I have a recipe that uses 1 cup and makes 48 cookies...they will be pretty strong cookies. More of an experiental approach...

Excellent, Somewhere around that numbers is what I would like the single dose to be. Not stronger.

I think you are right. And it's not much extra work to make concentrate of the buds.

I had a similar experience a few years back. :) Edibles can be very potent and it lasts for hours.

I usually shoot for 20mg thc per gummy. And I usually do 2 grams extract per batch when doing gummies. I end up with around 50 bears and 6-8 worms. The worms are 4x times the volume of the bears, so they're about 80mg a piece. Here I'll drop you a pic for a visual. Gummies are super easy to make with pretty accurate potentcy. one better than that, fruity pebbles. Goes well with the cannabis flavor actually. I make these all the time. however, they will go stale quick.

op if this is for pain relief then you gotta think that you're gonna want to be making pretty big batches, and shelf life will be a real thing. caps are not a bad idea to stick to as they never expire. My gummies tend to go bad after a month or so. chocolate can chill in teh freezer for a while too.
